If nothing else, this thread has proved that many people are cheap, holding on to every penny, feeling ripped-off even when they aren't, and ready to accept anything if it'll save them 15 bucks. Sad.

A lot of us work hard for our money. 15 bucks is 15 bucks... When we just bought the book, now have to spend X amount of $$ to get the updated version, which is looking like we won't even know where the updated info will be located at.

And you are complaining about people being cheap..when the author comes here and advertises his book for free on the biggest Prince fan web page. confused

Well then save 15 bucks and stick with the hardcover, all in all it is still a great book regardless. But it isn't the fault of Duane for releasing a better version of an already great book in my opinion, I am glad the option is there to get an updated version based on the updated info he got

Right now, on Amazon, USED copies of the hardback are priced between $20.14 - $44.94. Sell your hardback and buy the updated paperback. Problem solved.

Ummm.....does anyone use their public library anymore these days?? I walked in, looked up Duane's book, put a hold on it (because it was in hot demand!), and in less than a week I had the book in hand. Cost: $0.00. After reading it though, I bought the book, because it is fantastic.

*

READ THE BOOK IN TWO DAYS!!! COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. THANK YOU DUANE!!!!!!!!!!!!

*

It was clear that there were several people with whom Duane could not access for information/contribution to the book. Very glad to hear that some of them reached out to speak with him after the release of the book. Completely understand the need for an update, and it is appreciated that Duane is attempting to arrange a discount for those who purchased the original. Either way, payment for a copy with updates is worth it.

*

Duane - PLEASE give us an update on any plans for the 85-87 period!! Chomping at the bit for that one biggrin

Thank you! I am really excited about this expanded update. The hardback was published in November 2017 and once the book had been out for a few months, the publisher came to me and said that they planned to release the paperback version in November 2018. I explained to them that once the hardback version was published, a number of additional people who worked with Prince saw it and agreed to speak to me so I offered to update the paperback to get this new information out there. I told them that I think that an expanded and updated version would be much better than just the regular paperback and they seemed intrigued. Once the publisher approved of the idea, I took three months off from work and did the follow up interviews, added the new dates, new songs, new quotes, new sessions and updated whatever I could to give as much value to this project as possible. This isn't just an extra chapter written to seem bigger, I went through every page and added whatever new content I felt fit including over two dozen dates that are completely new or updated with information.

The paperback will be released on the 1 year anniversary of the publication of the hardback. I'M TRYING TO FIND A WAY TO GET A DISCOUNT FOR THE PEOPLE WHO PURCHASED THE HARDBACK COPY and hope to have details soon. To those who are excited about this expanded version, I'm also offering a way to get a signed and numbered copy of the paperback as well as getting your name in the expanded version of the book (the details of that are on DuaneTudahl.com).

The hardback was my first book and is still my baby. I am very proud of it and it still stands on it’s own, but there is new content in the paperback that is really worth getting as well. My goal is to make sure that Prince’s career is documented as completely and accurately as possible and so I had a choice of either sitting on the new information and agreeing to just reprinting the hardback as a paperback with no changes or finding a way to get the new details out to everyone. I chose the extra work of adding the content because I know I would want to know more about Prince’s creative history.

I’m grateful for all of the support. I’m honored that so many people have enjoyed this project of passion and that the outpouring for new material has been so positive. I’m working hard on future books and the positivity and energy that everyone is offereing has been inspiring.

I can’t wait to get this out in November to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of the publication of the hardback.

Thank you very much for all the work you did.

You have no idea how importent this is for us/me.

-

Then again, I have my personal opinion on those who want some kind of discount...

I don't get it.

Most of these people spend hundreds if not thousands of dolars/euros on bootlegs.

And now think a re-release of a great and helpful book of their much loved artist is too fast and too expensive.

People don't realise how much effort and energy it costs to have a book written and published.

Neither do they know that one doesn't really get paid for all the work that's put into it.

Certainly the publisher wants his share too, but that's another issue.

-

I'm abosultely SUPER PLEASED that an updated edition it there so fast !

WELL DONE DUANE, and CONGRATULATIONS !

I wouldn't mind if next year there is another one. biggrin Whatever. wink

What would Prince fans and the legacy of an artist like Prince be without people like you.

Not even The Estate is able to achieve something like that.

-

I have no problem with even paying the double for a treasure on my favourite artist.

And I hope I'm not alone.

And I absolutely agree on That. smile

But I think 85-86 already is worth a thick book !

And then 87-88. biggrin

Prince wrote and recorded like a madman in all these years.

-

Duane ? wink

-

Why do The Revolution members don't write a book together ?

Like, a book in 5 parts, each one's vision on their time.

Five books, one package. I would sign up for it. smile

Put sheila at it too !

Yes, just the '85-'86 unreleased music would probably make for a thick book!

*

I agree - would love to see a book from The Revolution, and one from Susannah too. I imagine that would be hard to coordinate, but it would be great.

You know, quite an impressive story about this 'The Dawn' session.

Love it.

Always loved that at the end of earlier album credits; 'May U Live To See Tha Dawn' etc.

It always was a welcoming positive expectation for the next thing to happen.

It colored my youth. I miss those days of hot Prince news...

Parts of the song 'I'm So Confused' can be heard in the official released

'Prince And The RevoluTion, LIVE' video (1984-1985),

from ;

-

1:06:20 until approximately 1:07:24 (soemthing like 01:24 long)

it's the continuous segue between 'Darling Nikki' and 'The Beautiful Ones',

-

I presume this is a part of the full unreleased studio track,

as mentioned in Duane's article.

-

I looked it up here :
