A former Orger and I were chatting today. He was listening to Purple Rain Deluxe, and noticed something. He noted how the melody and rhythm of "Baby I'm A Star" are echoed heavily in the verse for "The Dance Electric". The melody itself is slightly different in parts but the rhythm is quite similar.

Hey - look me over - tell me do you like what you see

Dance - the dance electric - listen to the rhythm of your soul

Hey, I ain't got no money - but honey, I'm rich on personality

Hear - our Master calling - This isn't what He wanted us 2 be

Hey - take a listen - tell me do you like what you hear

Look - our world is falling - A rhythm-less house of blinded prophecy

BIAS's chorus is very different whereas TDE follows the same rhythm and melody into the chorus, mostly. There are a few extra eighth notes in TDE, but they are very similar.

I agree. I was talking to my friend about how he resues stuff. The horns from "Superfunkycalifragisexy", Cat's rap(s), the leadline from "Rave" in "The Max", BIAS drums in "America", the very blueprint of PR on ATWIAD album. Long list. I think it's an interesting thing that even a genius like Prince sees something he has and thinks "I can use that here, why not?" It was always just about the music, no matter what.

It surely beats "artists" like Britney Spears who use songwriters who basically write the same song over and over and over.

I think Manic Monday and 1999 are probably the best example of this, certainly the best known.

It's definitely in the top 3 examples. I was just telling my roommate about it the other day when "Manic Monday" came on the radio.
