I would suggest London/UK, certainly in the latter part of his career. 21 Nights at the O2 in 2007, HitnRun I (and II) in 2014, the planned opening of Piano & a Microphone in 2015.
But it's all speculation.
The first show of the Piano & A Microphone would have been in Vienna, Austria With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! Prince had a very special relationship with the Netherlands. He did many small and unusual shows there. He worked with Candy Dulfer and other Dutch musicians.
When he wanted to do a video/tv recording of the Lovesexy show and couldn't get a stadium in the Netherlands, he went to Dusseldorf just across the German border and then sold the tickets in the Netherlands to get a Dutch audience.
Apparently the Netherlands reminded him of Minneapolis, culturally - like Canada/Ontario.

Netherlands reminding Prince of Minneapolis, MN? Could the Dutch canals have reminded him of the rapids and the locks on the Mississippi River? Maybe some geographical reminiscence was at play with all of the water around, as Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes and you can see them as you flyover--but, cuturally, well, I dunno about that!

An affinity with Cananda is a proximity kind of thing. They are our American neighbor, with whom we've managed to avoid a major conflict.

Judging from the number of times he played there, it's Britain with Holland coming up second. But we're a smaller country, so there's obviously going to be fewer concerts. But for the Dortmund 88 show, tickets were sold exclusively in Holland, which makes four Dutch shows that year. And on the Diamonds & Pearls tour, he did more shows in Rotterdam than in Paris. (Sorry, bonatoc ) He loved us and we loved him. [Edited 7/2/18 12:58pm] [Edited 7/2/18 13:00pm]
Totally agree from the number times he went to England, especially London! Remember "London Knows How To Party"! |

Dortmund, not Düsseldorf. And Dortmund is 100 kilometres away from the dutch border.

So in relation to country size/population/potential market share, the Netherlands was his favorite country
And of course because of Candy Dulfer, Anna Fantastic and Loïs Lane. Oh and because of the best ever live gig he did in the Paard van Troje (Small Club, 2nd Show That Night)
Cool! |

Keep in mind that tours are determined by market share. So "favourite" doesn't necessarily means "profitable". I highly doubt Prince's tours, at least for a large part of his career, were organised according to his personal preferences. The Colors R brighter, the Bond is much tighter

We have no idea what his favorite country to play in was, unless he said something to that effect.
"Statistics" only tell us where he might have felt he could earn the greatest return on his touring investment.
I've been to McDonald's more often than I've been to Michelin-starred restaurants, doesn't mean that I prefer it. |

I knew he played Rio. I am talking about him playing South America continuously throughout his career. I never heard his music or saw his image when I was there. Of course I haven't been everywhere, but as far as I know, he wasn't popular there. In Rio, he was just one of the big names on the Rock In Rio festival. There was talk of another festival in Brasil (I forgot the name) in 2011 or 12, but it was canceled |
