The orignal album (un2) was trying very hard to be the next Santana Supernatural (lots of guest stars, and produced by Clive Davis).

The remix improves on a few things, such as the title track and removing Everyday Is A Winding Road and adding Beautiful Strange.

I liked how he talked shit about Quest and Dangelo for dogging him in the Voodoo liner notes etc

Yes, that Undisputed remix is the highlight for me.
He stepped up his game like he had a point to prove to D and Q

the chocolate invasion
the slaughterhouse

planet earth
lotusflower
mplsound
20Ten
art official age

and enough one off online tracks to fill another few albums, while D 'worked' on the next one.

Yup. But I meant that those Dangelo liner notes made it seem like D went back to the rhoade etc organic sound etc that Prince supposedly couldnt do anymore. TRC was his clap back and the rest as you posted regarding the prolific is history.

oh, i know. the first time i listened to TRC it made me so happy. it was such a huge relief for me
to hear prince songs again that challenged me and that went places, went so many places that i
couldn't predict. halfway through the album i muttered 'well, thanks D'angelo, for stepping on his
dick and making him reply like this' lol

No lie, I thought the same thing because NPS, RAVE, etc had been really lackluster to me. TRC was his 4th turning point release imho. I thought when the competition is at his heels, Prince steps it up.

That being said, is the remix album any good and worth me paying money for the CD?

.

If only there was some network of computers where you could have listened to this CD in the past 17 years or so.

If only there were some person on this board constantly berating and belittling people for not being as smart and savvy as they are and constantly being rude to people while reminding us of this fact.

An episode of The Mountains and the Sea - A Prince Podcast was released on Sunday, June 24, 2018, and the focus was the entire Rave Un2 album, TGRES maxi single, "Providence" with Ani DiFranco and "Waiting Room" with No Doubt.

It's a podcast I host with my wife, and we touch on all songs on an album in each episode. If I may break my arm patting myself on the back, it's a great free way to hear information about the album and our opinion on every track.

You can subscribe in iTunes or wherever you get your pods, for free:

i think prince got tired /bored half way thru and didnt bother to remix the last half of the album...that being said if u combine both albums ..more gold

.

He promised a 2CD album that would be "the real Rave" (and idiotically did so before Rave was even released: "Hey fans, buy my new album! Which is BTW a shitty version of the album and I'll sell you the real version in the near future."). And then of course Rave flopped massively and of course Prince completely lost interest and in the end scrambled to put this together.

always kind of wondered why he didn't release the original sequence of this album
that he submitted to arista

.

The original album was a fairly short pop-rock album L4OA posted a short news item about (his engineer had delivered it to his home, IIRC). Which he shopped to a bunch of labels until Clive Davis became involved, and then Prince decided to "do a Santana". Uptown had a long story about this: https://images.bonanzasta...G_4249.JPG .

Yes, people must be super-geniuses to figure out how to obtain music online.

agreed. nps, rave etc, they were all still good imo, but he was definitely in some sort of funk.

with trc he snapped out of it and his music felt so much more free after that.

Thanks!

I will say that diving deep into Rave Un2, Rave In2, interviews and live performances that were televised (mostly overseas) has been a bit exhausting. There are some nice highs and some serious, serious lows.

Check out The Mountains and the Sea, a Prince podcast by yours truly and my wife. More info at https://www.facebook.com/TMATSPodcast/
