Everything from Dirty Mind to Lovesexy. Skipping tracks is kinda difficult on vinyl anyway. The first one after that is 3121. And Lotusflower.

I started skipping songs on Parade, but I can deal with "Life Can Be So Nice" if necessary. But Graffiti Bridge is where I really started juggling tracks.

When I edited Tony M. out of the vast majority of the two albums he was on, D&P & prince were even better. I skip around a bit on Emancipation depending on the disk. Disk 1 is great in any formation. Shuffle that thing and it always sounds good.

I skip all of The Rainbow Children. After that, it was always spotty for me.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I’m pretty sure the first time I came across a Prince album with a song I just had to skip was the 0(+> album and “The Morning Papers.” I still have that impulse when that song comes up. Brilliant album...just something a little stale about TMP.

On almost every one of Prince's albums, there's at least one song that I don't care for very much. My favourite albums are PR and D&P. I'm not wild about Take Me with U and I don't like Jughead either. I can tolerate these songs, but I usually skip both of them when I'm listening to the respective albums.

I like every track of his albums till Batman, where I didn't care much for Lemon Crush after the first few listens. I still played it though. The first skippers are the rap songs on prince and D & P. The albums that I like all the songs after the 80s include One Night Alone, Chocolate Invasion, Musicology, and AOA. HnR2 just misses due to Screwdriver though it's okay in concert.

I'm not emotionally 4 years old that if I hear a track that I don't fancy while listening to a whole record, I start blushing and cringing and moaning and stomping feet in impatience to the point that that I have to give-up doing whatever I'm doing and RUN to click "skip", or even better cry for my mommy to do it for me before I vomit my soup on the sofa because of that one nasty song that's upset me lol

Everything up to Newpower Soul. For some reason, I've never listened to "Eye Like Funky Music" all the way through. Then everything's good until "Get on the Boat" from 3121. Some of the Slaughterhouse thanks are tedious too.

Yeah I also wondered about that. It's a bit like those "Let's face it" threads: they do not really give contributors the option to express any opinion that differs from the OP's, since it implies that any contradiction is necessarily dishonest (either because the contributor lies to others, or to themselves). It's never a good way to start a thread.

All of them, at least if it's a standard based on whether I can listen to the whole album without skipping at least one track. I honestly can do that--not every time, but if I'm going to listen to the rest of an album, I can usually listen to even the song I like least. Now, there are days when I'm just not in the mood for a particular album, and there might be a particular day when I can't handle a particular song, but it won't be because I just don't like the song. It'd just be some sort of mismatch between the music and me that particular day. I can name a least favorite song on most albums, one that is a definite low point--but even those I can usually enjoy on at least some level. They tend to be just sort of bland, or tracks that are clearly just lesser examples of some basic model that he did much better elsewhere. Nothing worth skipping, just not worth going back to listen to again real soon.

I got zero respect for anyone who calls themselves a Prince fan and skips songs like "Delirious", "The Future", "Le Grind", "Cindy C.", "Loose!", "Race", "Pheromone", "Baby I'm A Star" or even "Temptation". Zero. They're not a Prince fan, they're a troll.

It's a playful expression. People say it all the time even though they have no expectation of dishonesty. Also, this is a Prince fansite, so some people here are bashful as being seen as spreading "negativity" about something if they claim Prince did anything bad. It's all silly to me, but the OP calling for honesty was not an assumption of dishonesty.

I will regularly listen to the following without skipping anything:

>

  1. For You
  2. Prince
  3. Dirty Mind
  4. Controversy
  5. 1999
  6. Purple Rain
  7. ATWIAD
  8. Parade
  9. SOTT
  10. Lovesexy
  11. Batman

>

So the answer is 11. Could have been 12 if not for Jughead. I remember the first time I played that one... got about 30 seconds in and I just said "NOPE!!" I have never heard that song to this day.

..

Also, could have been 12 if not for $ from LotusFlow3r. I always wondered if Prince lost a bet or something when it came to that one...

..

There are others where I like 70-80%,others where I like considerably less.

Most (not all) had some "throw-away" songs included among the good/great ones. Prince had fewer than most artists. But, after his peak during the 1980's I remember through 90's thinking, "gee, there is a lot of filler that could be trimmed off these albums that would probably raise the overall average rating for the ablum(s) by a lot".

Some of my top early Prince albums with fewest flawed play list, not in order.

1999, "Free" was the only fly in 1999's ointment.

Purple Rain was his pinnacle. I would say this one was flawless. If I had to cut one song, it would be "Baby I'm a Star" but that sounded so much like him celebrating his own success that I'd leave it.

Parade is very under rated in my opinion. "Life Can Be so Nice" gets a little to frenetic at the end so I end up skipping it.

Dirty Mind, "Party Up" would get nixed in pursuit of a 5-star record.

Sign O the Times could lose "Play in the Sunshine" and "Its gonna be a beautiful night" and be that much better for it.

I think beginning in the 1990's Prince began releasing albums that were more weighed down by "filler", which may have led to his decline in POPularity/sales. Of course, Pop music was changing and P's attempt to sprinkly wrap into his music was not working. I think he still put out good/great music during this period but may have been better served by slowing down releases and only putting out the "cream".
