This is my second fav album so it's so hard to choose! I love all the songs. I can say though, the mood that I'm in on a particular day can determine what I think is the best song on the album. I'm not a human
I am a dove
I'm your conscious
I am love
All I really need is to know that
You believe |

TMBGITW by a mile, one of his best songs overall.
Followed by Gold, Dolphin snd Billy Jack Bitch.
Great album, in my all time 5. |

Lot of good tracks on this record.
I love "SHHH", "BJB", "I Hate U", "Now"...
I'd have swapped something out and worked "Days of Wild" in the tracklist somewhere. |

P. Control. Willing and Able would be #1 if it used the same vocals as he did in the 'official' video. Man, I get chills when I listen to that version!
You’re right about the vocals in the video. Wrong album though...

But as with a lot of Princes Music
I can appreciate the arrangemets
and the NEW ways he continued to mix
single sounds together
creating more of a an audio montage
,
Pussy Control just vibes too erratic for me
and every sinlge sherik and scream
are like nails down my back
I dont like how I feel when I listen to it..

Eye wish there was an acoustic version of billy jack sans samples and even omiting the title lyric from the song ... and also omitting horrible new jack beat ... maybe as is would have fit better on exodus .. |

According to P-vault Billy Jack Bitch came first
Morris Hayes said on the Dr Funk podcast Billy Jack came from the same sessions as Hallucination Rain and The Exodus Has Begun. |

I never thought of that song that way but I can hear it, actually. To me, it seemed to rely on the back beat and the funk driven bottom end but imagining him playing it acoustically, Musicology Tour style, has me intrigued. Good job getting me thinking about this song in a new way. Thanks.
Why did Prince fuck up SO MANY ALBUMS with stupid segues anyway? Gold, Love Symbol, Exodus, Rainbow Children....AoA is the only one I can recall where it mostly worked or at least didn't DETRACT from the album.
When did that tendency really start and when did it end? Is there anyone that still enjoys any of that shit? Seemed most prevelant during his "Fuck Warner Bros" phase but then again, Rainbow Children and AoA....Maybe I'll start a thread about that.

the only segue i still like is the 'npg records' intro to the Exodus album, and that's technically an intro
the ones on come aren't so bad since they kind of go with the tracks at least and don't seem to obviously like tagged on segues (which they are after all)
the narration of TRC is just that for me, i don't see that as segues since they are a part of the song structure in most cases. ('and in a downward spiral it dripped...down...the drain' ) more integrated than those bits on "come" anyway.
the segues on the love symbol album are only a few, thank god, because they are corny as fuck. i hate them.
the gold experience ones aren't THAT bad. but they only retain about 0.1% of the coolness i thought they had back in 1994 the most annoying thing about those is that they bleed into the song. like at the end of BJB or the phonecall at the beginning of 319. or even the Prince esta Muerto at the end of Endorphinmachine. think about the playlists prince, or at that time the mix tapes
AOA, once again, not segues as such.
the only album that have actual segues that feel like segues are Exodus and TGE. the ones on Exodus are just TOO DAMN MUCH already.
but you can program them out. and you can listen to mashed potato girl on just the one audio channel and that alone is worth at least the price of an average album. it's made me laugh for all these years, as tired as the other skits are, MPG is hysterical.
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps |

Yes, he seemed to get a taste for the segues on the Symbol album then carried it on with Goldnigga, Come, Gold, Exodus.
.
And yes Mash Potato Girl is gold.
Some of the other Exodus ones are quite amusing but they're not something you'd choose to listen to often so they were literally a waste of space. Could have kept Love..Thy Will Be Done or Funky Design on there instead. |

I have a hard time with this, simply because I wanted to nominate TMBGITW, but since it A) came out well over a year before the album was released and B) the album version is too overproduced compared to the beautiful single version, I don't know.
I would say "Shhh!," "Endorphinmachine," and "Dolphin" are my Top 3. I love "P. Control" as well. |

I think it sounds forced. What really angers me is that...he had a much more credible, more convincing hip-hop track ("Days Of Wild") and he didn't put that one on the album [Edited 6/24/18 9:53am] |
