Dave Grohl on Prince

Dave Grohl is on the Jimmie Kimmel show, telling how he jammed with Prince at the Forum. He said that he and about 20 of his friends went to see the concert and they were wasted. Prince wanted him to get up on stage with him to perform and he couldn't because he was so wasted. Prince then asked what he was doing later that week, so they could get together and jam. Prince said he would call him. Dave Grohl said he kept his phone close by and never nothing from Prince. So he went down there and he and Prince jammed to a Zepplen song. And he has it on tape.

They are getting ready to play it on Jimmie Kimmel.

Are you sure it wasn't Jimmy Fallon? I watched the end of Kimmel and didn't see any reference to it.

It seems to be "tonight's" episode (8/3).

.

No mention of Prince in that video but too much of a coincidence to not be the same episode.

No I don't watch Fallon, only Kimmel. And it ended up that they didn't play the tape of Grohl and Prince jamming, that Grohl said he'd send it to Jimmie. It was right after Kimmel's opening speel.

Was it this story? I think Grohl said Prince was the most talented musician he’d ever met. 😎

I would love to have stuff like this be released of Prince just jamming with different artists. Not his crew or protege's.

I remember when Prince played Best of You at the Super Bowl and a bunch of Foo Fighter fans got all pissed about it. Grohl basically told them to shut up, that Prince played it better than FF ever could. Total respect (and quite accurate).

I still have to laugh that some people think Prince played it to troll the FF. I’m sorry Prince isn’t going to play a song at the freaking Super Bowl to troll someone. According to Morris Hayes he played the song because he liked it. Taylor Hawkins said he was at a bar outside smoking a cigarette when someone came out to tell him Prince was playing a Foos song. He had no clue why Prince chose it but said his version was better than theirs. lol cool

I also recall Sir Dave Grohl saying Prince had refused permission for the Foos to release their version of Darlin Nikki - and then Prince plays Best Of You at the Super Bowl without askin/telling them!

Dave Grohl found this hilarious and is definitely a huge Prince fan

It’s not very good...at least not the one with Cee Lo. Of course it’s not quite as bad as Maroon 5’s cover of Kiss. shake

That's kind of endearing. Maybe Prince just forgot, cool Dave went on down there anyway and Prince followed through. Must have been a wonderful memory.

Good! The only time I watch the Jimmy Kimeel show is because of Norman Reedus who plays Daryl Dixon on AMC The Walking Dead. Tonight's epsiode is definitely worth watching.

Just curious, what did Prince mean during his Super-Bowl performance, when he said "I ain't no fool"?

Maybe it was a play on the lyrics in the song:

I'm your fool
