the need to create two identities

Was reading about musician/producer/composer, Weldon Irvine, and one article discussed his “need to create two identities in order to remain self- possessed; one identity for public consumption and the other his own true personal persona”. This has probably been discussed in the past, but any thoughts on this related to Prince? What are folk’s opinions, did he have his own true personal persona or did the public consumption identity morph into the true persona? Who was privy to the “true personal persona”? Just to be clear, I know that none of us here know, just a point of discussion.

I think believing in Astrology (Gemini horseshit), and the plausible deniability it afforded him are the main reasons.

I think Prince was who we got overall. I think with the family trauma, it kicked in that he was going to be 'Music' as he said closer to his passing and over time. Prince lived in the studio, on stage etc the style the dualities all were who he was and became as he developed music. Some were just songs, fiction, others expressing his reality or what he reflected through another live or experience.

He definitely had two personas . He needed both to survive but at times they were in conflict with each other and to me he seemed confused at times he may even had a third one. But in the end sadly none of them prevailed.
