Prince talked not just through his guitar but also TO his guitar I was recently looking for good clips of him doing the question of U and the one together. There is a latter day one in which he literally plays his guitar like a woman talking dirty to him and then talks back (about the 9;20 mark) . The clip overall has some of my favorite playing of his (not necessarily his prettiest vocal but one of his more charismatic ones.)

HOLY SHIT! At the 4:13 point, he really makes it sound wicked with this riff...that was awesome.
Then, at 7:26 mark he starts talking to the guitar, as it "Talks" back, and he goes through some JimiIZMS on guitar.
