Question about an instrumental from 1983 On The Work the song is labeled as 'Climax' and the Work It set, Disc 5, it's labeled as Instrumental 1.
Could it be that this is the song 'Electrocution'? http://www.princevault.com/index.php?title=Electrocution
During a quick glance, I didn't see anything in the Purple Rain Sessions Book about this.

I don't think so because in the Vault book they're clearly listed as 2 different tracks. I am under the impression Princevault doesn't list untitled instrumentals, I'm not sure why. "Climax" (a bootleggers' made title, as well as its other title "Jammin' Till The Dawn": the track has no known official title) is indeed supposed to be from 1983 and it actually seems to segue straight off Vibrator, suggesting that it was considered for Vanity 6's second album at some point (maybe with the idea that lyrics and vocals would be added at a later date). I'm not 100% certain because my versions of both songs come from different sources and have different pitches, but it sounds to me that the drum machine that starts at the end of Vibrator is the beginning of "Climax". [Edit: it's G-Spot not "Climax"] Now that you mention it I don't recall there being any mention of it in Duane's book, but there was so much info to absorb at once that I may have forgotten about it. If it really isn't there, a possibility is that it's from 1982 and was only later segued with Vibrator, which could explain why it's not in the book: I don't see Duane overlooking it.

Data, on the copies of Vibrator I have it seems that G-Spot begins to blend in at the 6:55 mark. Oddly, while both Vibrator & G-Spot are the first and second tracks on CD3 of The Work Volume 1, the two tracks sound like they're from different sources.

I'll be fucked! You are right it's G-Spot not "Climax". I'm losing my mind I swear to God! Thanks for the correction. . I think part of the reason my brain mixed it all up is because "Climax" reportedly first appeared on a cassette that also contained Vibrator, leading Uptown Magazine to assume it was intended for the second V6 record. . The different sources between Vibrator and G-Spot is probably due to the fact that Vibrator segues into the (uncirculating) Vanity version of G-Spot, while the one we have is the Prince version. [Edited 5/29/18 6:46am] Thanks for the info! I’m organizing all Outtakes by year and I’m not sure where to put “Climax” or what to call it.

The Work 2.0 made it easy lol. With so many better sources it was time for me to clean up. I’ve made it to 1995 so far.

It's titled "Instrumental" as far as anyone knows, though I wouldn't be surprised if the estate eventually decided to release it as "Climax" or "Jammin' Till The Dawn". If you're absolutely certain it's nowhere to be found in his book, you should orgnote Duane (madhouseman) and ask him to come here and tell us whether he overlooked it or it was from an earlier date: I'm pretty sure he would tell us A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

This track always remided me of Stand Back, similar kind of heavy synth vibe and beat. Wonder if it was recorded shortly before or after Stand Back? Hmmm... Stand at the crossroads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths...(Jeremiah 6:16) www.ancientfaithradio.com
