Prince Cassette to CD Does anyone know what the last thing released by prince was on cassette and the first thing released on the cd format? Are the cassettes worth anything to prince collectors I know its a shitty format but it was actually what was the most popular at his 80s peak for nostalgia if nothing else? I can't comment on the last thing EVER produced on cassette, but the last 2 items I had on cassette from Prince were The War (thrown in free with my 1-800-New-Funk order) and a cassette single of him "Live in New York" if I remember correctly (he was on the cover, sitting on one of his clear amps).

Roseland NYC, I remember being at that show. Chris Rock interview and "Somebodys Somebody" vid was recorded. What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?

I’m pretty sure 3121 or maybe Musicology was the last album to be released on cassette. Check www.discogs.com for info like this, it’s a great resource and marketplace.

This is true. The last Prince release on cassette in the U.S. was Rave. Musicology was the last release in other countries.

Bloody hell I would never of guessed that I thought they would have stopped releasing cassettes way way before Musicology or 3121. I'm just like everybody else I need love.....and water.

I think the first Prince album to be released on cd was Around The World In A Day. I could be wrong as that was the first one that grabbed my attention as it was in one of those long cardboard sleeves that they used to prevent theft.

I remember seeing Emancipation on cassette. My mom's friend had it when it was released. I somewhat remember seeing Rave on cassette too. "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

That's surprising. I was certainly thinking Rippop would have been on the Showgirls soundtrack, but it wasn't. Was Private Joy on the Weird Science soundtrack? Yep - it was, by Cheyne. [Edited 6/11/18 12:26pm] "I like to watch."
