Okay, let me say. Thanks for the link. Great sound quality. Okay, the 2013 version is the best one with a visual. Although I like them the same for different reasons. I think P's vocals are a bit more passionate in the 2013...but damn, guitar god was at it again in 2011.

Strengths of 2013

--horn arrangements

--energy (even though P seemed a bit winded and irritable at the end of the third night

--his best version "the Love we Make"

--his fun stripped down version of The Max

--Prince on keys

--his version of Play that FUnky Music

--the gorgeous version of "Close and Slow"

--his opening tribute to the producer of MOntreux (lovely Purple Rain singing)

Weaknesses of 2013...

--first two nights were a bit too busy

--good guitar playing from P during third night but he has better playing in later 3rdyegirl performances

Strengths of2009...

---MOST OF IT...but at times, Renato gets a bit too much time.

Both Nights are aces...but based strictly on musical prowess, 2009 takes the cake.

best version of The Love we make? R u sure cuz this one kills 2013 version. Check it out. : https://m.youtube.com/wat...sOjicGaXqw

U cant have best version of The Love We Make without His Royal Badness on guitar.on 2013 shows Prince fingers barely moved.very weak performance in 2009 he was killing it

The 2009 version of Empty Room is enough to sell me on which show was better. Just incredible. He was on fire for that entire set.

I think I prefer 2011 North Sea Jazz version of Empty Room.

There is more to prince than his guitar playing obviously. And I just feel more passion from his singing in 2013. I like both performances equally for this reason. . I like the live performances better but I don't think guitar shredding is an absolutely necessary component..IMO. Obviously, this is subjective.

Funny you should say that, but apparently according to the description under the clip, the 2011 version's keyboard opening is Renato playing and it takes up a significant portion of the clip.

Oh no!!! Say it isn't so!!!!! Kidding....2011 was good too, BUT 2009 was just off the chain. He looked like he was on a mission with that song - even cut his hand and had to lick the blood off twice, but still kept on with full intensity, and that guitar was literally crying. And then he goes right into Elixir, and has this little smirk on his face when he sings the lyric "If my guard is ever low, there's a place I can go..." as if to say to the subject of Empty Room - yeah, you left me and sometimes I miss you, but I can still do this with a beautiful woman... Okay, yes I'm totally guessing on that part, but that's what is seemed like to me smile

I think another reason why I like the 2009 version is because I love the original unreleased track, and in the 2009 show he follows that version more closely with both the music and vocal. In 2011, the instrumental is different, and he seems to be screaming the vocal more than softly singing it. Also, the flow of the song is different.

I used to think the When I lay my hands on u from night two from montreux was my favorite. But I now think it is tied with his 2011 version. The first for the musicality; the second for the performance/dramatic effect. Prince is possessed in the second one. Intense.

I wish this was in better sound quality. Maybe there is a version out there at that exists. But its not soft that's for sure.

I thought he was just being sexy too, but I saw a comment from a poster on YT talking about how cool he was with licking his cut. Then I looked at the clip on my larger desktop flat screen PC, and sure enough, he had about a one inch cut on his right hand between his thumb and index finger. You can see it when the close up camera is on that hand while he plays the guitar.

2009 blew me away. Nothing has topped it for me. And I love the 3rdEyeGirl era. But Montreux 2009 drew me in, like being in a vacuum, time stood still and everything else ceased to exist. It was such a powerful performance for me. That level of brilliance and beauty just doesn't come along every day.

Both are good. 2009 shows more of his overall versatility tham show 3 2013. But, they are the best pro shot concerts of him period.

I think the 2009 show was more about precision and intensity, and the guitar was just incredible. Not sure how you beat the solo of Empty Room at the first show. The 2013 show seemed on a higher emotional level for him, which makes sense based on the time frame, as it appears to be when his health was declining.
