Joint to joint lyric

On the track 'Joint 2 Joint' can Prince be heard to say 'found a name, suppose I wanna change, but nothing comes for free'.

That is what it sounds like to my ears.

However, when I look up lyrics online it has them detailed as "follow me for those who wanna change. But nothing comes for free.

Any thoughts on what is correct?

Thanks

Thank you for the link. I did mention what the online lyrics state it to be. My question is that I hear it differently and wonder if these are incorrect.

Isn't there an emancipation lyric book? If anybody has it, could they inform us?

The third option is kind of a hybrid of the two

"Found a name for those who wanna change. But nothing comes for free".

The lyric you are inquiring about is not printed in the Emancipation: Words And Pictures tour book.

I'm not going to type out the entire thing, but, the relevent section...

FROM THE LINK TO LYRICS ABOVE:

Come upstairs 2 my room

Joint 2 joint (I never sucked...) {x2}

I never sucked sour splints from a chew stick
Don't lick bics cuz fire sticks 2 flame (flame)
Get wicks 2 catch brothers who choose 2 let burns remain
Now I see all Dicks, Toms and Harrys are not the same
Some dipped in my lower lip, sipped a supple poison (poison {x3})

Joint 2 joint (I never sucked...) {x4}

(Come with me, 4 those who wanna change)
(But nothing comes 4 free)

Joint 2 joint, nothing comes 4 free
If U show your love, U can get with me
U can get with me, U can get with me
Joint 2 joint

Up the stairs 2 my lovely room

THAT SAME SECTION FROM THE LYRIC BOOK:

Come upstairs 2 my room...

Spoken word by The Poet 99

Joint 2 joint, nothing comes 4 free

If U show your love, U can get wit me

U can get wit me
Up the stairs 2 my lovely room

The lyric book doesn't have Poet 99's part or the part that is in parenthesis at the lyric link.

From the DTT:

Joint 2 joint, nothing comes 4 free
If U show your love, U can get with me
U can get with me, U can get with me
Joint 2 joint

Then later:

Joint 2 joint, nothing comes 4 free (Sex me)
If U show your love, U can get with me {repeat in a loop}
(Na na, na na na na) (Nothing comes 4 free)
If we're ever naked in the same machine
Baby, we can kick it joint 2 joint

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Thanks for taking the time to share this.

I think it is actually prince who says the line in question. I can understand why it may be wrongly (imo) attributed to poet99.

Am I correct in thinking that the online transcriptions are created from fan interpretations? If so, going off several listens, I believe prince is saying my third option - "found a name for those who wanna change. But nothing comes for free".

The tourbook doesn't include Prince's parts that are in parenthesis in the link above either.
