i could tell this guy wasn't black american by watching him dance, the girls either, maybe that was passable in europe but it's laughable here. did prince copy? very well could have, wouldn't be the first time prince took inspiration from a fringe act, kid creole, which he really based morris' character on was transparent to the point kid could have sued.

If My memory serves Me correct, Boney M. was createdby & produced by the SAME Man who put together Milli Vanilli: Frank Farian. And the chances are high that NONE of these Folks U see in this Video or on the records ACTUALLY sang sh*t!!!

that's what i read on wiki, the guy complained about not getting paid but all he did was lypsync and dance (terribly).

Frank Farian is (in Europe) a huge and succesful producer.. ok the Milli Vanilli scandal was embarrassing.. but u socalled negativity spreaders, may I say "disco-haters" to you guys..?
here's a (Shorter), tv version, 1985: Prince 4Ever.

If I recall correctly, Boney M sold more singles than ABBA in the 70's and 80's. They're still the sound of christmas and they're still simultaneously absolute rubbish and absolute brilliance. Their album covers gave Prince a run for his money as well

you guys must be european, because boner m was unheard of here, that wasn't a us show that clip is on is it? they'd get run out of soul train. I'm no disco hater, a lot of it i like, if i love Sylvester that tells you i have no hate for disco, but this crap?

Dude, you don't know the half of the madness that is Boney M [Edited 5/23/18 11:02am]

Their biggest 2 Billboard hits in the US reached #11 on the disco chart in January 1977 & #30 on the Hot 100 in August 1978. The 3rd chart is the highest position Boney M ever reached on the R&B chart (then called Hot Soul Singles) at #75. But the disco chart (later retitled dance/club play or 12" singles in the 1980s) had many songs that didn't chart high on the other charts. It was mainly based on songs played in clubs and sales of maxi singles, not radio airplay. Daddy Cool + Fever & Take The Heat Off Me from the same album are the songs that reached #11 on the disco chart, but only Daddy Cool reached #65 on the Hot 100, which is the mainstream pop chart. So people going to dance at a disco (like Studio 54) might be more aware of Boney M than radio listeners
The group did appear on Soul Train. I know that because when Bounce TV was showing the reruns a few years ago, the episode was shown several times. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

These are the Parade tour moves. In another video Bony does what looks like The Bird. The song was from 1979! He also had pants like Hammer. Hammer also ripped him off. Did Prince ever mention Bony? I'm stunned. Boney M and the mastermind behind one of the best disco band in Europe were my thing back in high school. But no similarities with Prince moves... By the way Bobby Farrell the only male in the band could dance his ass off!!! He passed away in 2010 in St Petersburg (heart failure) The Ignorant asserts,The learned doubts,The wise thinks.

Don Cornelius had to be aware of Boney M to book them on the show and there were several other disco groups on Soul Train either as guests or just the song being played for the dancers. I remember when Bounce were showing the reruns, a lot of what they showed was from this period and some episodes from the 1st couple of seasons. They went to maybe around 1986 or 87, then skipped to the mid 1990s when it started to become the Rap Train. Bounce would show the same episodes over and over and not show any at all from other years. That Gonzalez song was played a lot on the show. hell, i'm a musician and judging how easy it is to impress euros, i should move over there, play a song, and hop around like a freak, i'd be a star.

You can be a star in the USA now by making up a dance with a ringtone song like Stanky Legg, Chicken Noodle Soup, Dougie, Hit the Quan, Lean/Dabb, Juju On That Beat, Whip Nae Nae, Crank That Superman, etc. Ellen DeGeneres will be soon doing it on her show after it goes viral.
