omg Prince ripped off Bony M..

How did we miss this:

These are the Parade tour moves. In another video Bony does what looks like The Bird. The song was from 1979! He also had pants like Hammer. Hammer also ripped him off. Did Prince ever mention Bony? I'm stunned.

All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

Pretty sure Boney M never reached Minneapolis. It was strictly Euro crap. These are generic cheesy 1970s disco dance moves; Prince came from that era.

i don't know, maybe but he looks like he's doing a really bad version of james brown to me, even the fucked up parted afro. he dances like a white guy, i think prince looked a lot better. never heard of boner m anyway.

eek jeez i can't believe anybody on the planet not knowing Boney M?? It's like not knowing what is butter. biggrin

I will never believe Prince didnt know about them, of course he did. There are 'some' similarities, but imo there's no imitating exact dance-moves - it's more like the 'general idea'.

This have been discussed before actually, but i'm not sure here or on HQ back in the days.

IIRC, the guys behind Boney M were the same as those behind Milli Vanilli lol

In fairness to the one who never heard of Boney M, Boney M had absolutely zero success in the United States. They were much bigger over seas.

Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

Boney M. or rather Frank Farrian. Made nice tunes.
Search for it. You won't be disappointed.
He did the same trick later again... But that time it didn't work out in the end... That was called Milli Vanilli.
Somehow people accept it when it comes to Boney M.

Ah, this takes me back...almost to the Rivers of Babylon where we sat down...the irony of being referred to as Daddy Cool whilst dancing in such a manner is not lost on me, the singers or the audience of the time, methinks.

Bony M were genius.

The similarities are absolutely uncanny. And it's clear to me that Daddy Cool was the blueprint for Daddy Pop.

Now, excuse me while I snort this line...

Excellent disco classics imho..... great songs from a great era... the 70s' disco scene.

I no disco is ridiculed by many (fools) today, sorry to write "fools" mainly rock folks I belive?

Disco, is loved and not "ridiculed" - by me::

I heart disco music.. the original emperors, with

Donna Summer,
Bee Gees,
Village People
Chic / Sister Sledge

being the huge "names" from this era 1976 to 1979 especially..

Btw the 2 first Prince-albums were hugely influenced by.... Disco whether u like this fact or not..
Disco from the 70's is excellent, imo...

music

And ok I love Prince, the Beatles, Pink Floyd, ELO, Depeche Mode etc etc etc as well.. wink

They were a german band...
and like Milli Vanilli....only one female singer really sang.
The voice of the male ..dancer..was in origin the producer of the whole thing: Frank Farian.
here's another tune ...remember Lady Gaga, who stole from this one ?
