Have you ever seen Prince in public? I don't mean, you saw him holding conferences or mini shows. Like, seeing Prince out and about at airports, in the city, etc.

Closest I came to seeing 'public' Prince was at an aftershow party in London. Does that count if it's his party? Nothing more casual than that though. RIP

I saw him at Tokyo’s Narita airport in Jan of 1989. He was super flashy and tiny! The crowd went wild. He was in town for the Lovesexy shows (which I didn’t see, unfortunately- my first Prince concert was the following year for the Nude Tour at The Big Egg). It was a thrill.

What? I saw him in a car in Berlin. But he was in the backseat.

Told this story a while ago here, but I have a friend who was living in Minn. who was riding the bus one day when P got on with 2 women (who may have been L&W, my buddy was not really a fan--said they were not smokeshows) just before 1999 was released.
He said this "wierd" loloking dude in fur who he later came to recognize as P on MTV walked down the aisle of the bus and asked everyone on it: "Do you know Prince?"
Then the 3 got off and presumably waited for another bus.
Wacky, but a decent way to build local buzz I guess.

I’m alluding to the fact that some people considered that KoolEaze must be Prince here on the Org.

ya, really wacky, they say he used to drive his motorbike naked (or he did rather) to get press. Margaret Cho has said someone saw him on a bus I think. My best friend claimed to have seen him in Seattle about 23 years ago, which i doubt but someone else on here said they saw him at a local mcdonalds around the same time. i just don't know why he'd be here. whoever my friend saw, the guy asked him where jimi hendrix's grave was and once he went on his way he kept looking back and smiling.

That was me that said about a sighting in Seattle. It was my niece and she was at a McDonald's when he strolled in. She recognized him and smiled at him and he smiled back and gave her a little wave. She's deaf so she didn't think that he would be able to understand her if she started signing to him so she didn't approach him. She wished that she had after she found out about him donating proceeds of shows to deaf schools in the area of where he did shows.

ya, i remember so you think it was really him??? what shows did he do here? I don't recall him coming to town anytime between lovesexy and the ona shows, he very well could have though. I have a hard time picturing him out and about though, especially at that mcdonalds on 3 and pine, there is no way he wouldn't have been just mobbed there. Of course there are several mcdonalds in the downtown area which aren't as packed. [Edited 4/26/18 17:06pm]

Saw Prince in the late 80's at Northrop Auditorium on the campus of the University of Minnesota. I was in the balcony where not many people were seated. Prince came in with his entourage. I was struck by how tiny he was. Prince had written a musical piece for Twyla Tharp, the ballet dancer who was performing that night. We didn't exchange glances or words.

Here un Mexico and Acapulco when I was a boy, he was singing Mariachi and eating guacamole ( I know very stereotipical, but aren't stereotypes quite fun')

uh, that wasn't prince, prince had a latino type look though, i knew a gay mexican who was a dead ringer for him. I knew another guy, dumb metal head who looked just like him, he claimed he went to a metal concert and some asshole told him he looked like michael jackson to which he replied "fuck you" I then informed him "no, you don't look like Michael Jackson, you look like Prince".

That story is great!
I didn't see him but I kinda walked right into a video shoot or something going on in the very early Spring 1998 I believe accidently. It was the Union Depot Building downtown St. Paul. I was leaving school to go get lunch it it was a just a massive group of people and I was thinking whoa what is this circus about but then looked over and Mayte was standing taking with Michael Bland. I didn't see Prince, I have no idea if he was there or not. [Edited 4/26/18 20:40pm]

also, i wondered why his cream video was supposedly placed in a washington train station, in the long version you can here names of washington towns, i wondered if he made it here and couldn't figure out why he would choose this state, washington/seattle is not really particularly glamorous, and whoever directed the vid must not even have known the proper pronunciation for the towns because "spokane" was mispronounced, always baffled me. Like I told my buddy who thought he saw him on beacon hill here, maybe he did and "we'll never see anyone like that again".

I have seen him several times but there was this one time when he was set to perform at Northrop; it was during the fisrt celebration, he drove next to me while we both tried to get to the venue. I was somewhat lost, he made a right while I made a left away from the theatre. He was driving the white BMW two seater. I miss him... klick

That video (portions of it anyway) were shot inside the Tacoma train station before it was remodeled and upgraded. This is probably when people spotted him in Seattle. Or maybe I'm thinking of a Steve Miller video? I don't know anymore.....

On the side entrance of "Paard van Troje"(the club where he had played the famous "Small Club"-gig in '88) After a show in Rotterdam ' 92 he went there again, for an afterparty. So I was standing outside with a bunch of other fans). A car was placed near the side entrance, he came out and was ready to get in the car. All fans including me were just silently starstruck watching. But then one of the group said: "Hey, Prince" Prince looked up, looked at every one of us, smiled, waved, and got in the car. NPG Radio:

I saw him get into the Bains Douches in Paris 1998, I was only a few meters away from him. There was a sort of aura about him even off-stage, the way he walked and all. I'm truly sorry I can never see the MF on stage again A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Imagine the amount of energy it took for him to project that kind of aura about him when he was on stage, even when he was not performing and just being 'Prince' when he was in public. It's really no wonder that he died quite young. His little body was just worn out. I also am saddened that I will never have the oppurtunity to see him perform n stage again in person. I'm sure we will be getting some kind of concert footage from the Estate eventually but it won't be the same.

I have an army buddy that saw him 4 sure in Chicago at Medusa's,( a danceclub) it was i think 1998. He wasn't a fan but he definitely knew who Prince was. I didn't go out with my buddies one particular night, the next morning he came into our recruiting office telling everyone who he'd seen at the club the night before. I remember that he couldn't believe how short Prince was. He said that Prince stood on the edge of one of the dance floors and silently just watched folks dancing. Also that Prince had a few girls that were with him and he stood there wearing black shades and that the girls danced 2gether and for Prince. He said Prince stayed for almost an hour, never really saying anything, just watching and smiling. Also he had on a really wild outfit, which i can't recall the description but he had a cane in the club. Anyway I was super duper pissed that as a fan I was the 1 that didn't get 2 see him and my army buddy ended up just running into Prince on a random night.

Saw Prince in 2004 for the "Call My Name" video shoot in L.A. He stood less than 10 feet in front of me in an immaculately tailored suit. He emitted an otherworldly vibe. His speaking voice was low and he seemingly found it challenging to maintain eye contact as he addressed me and the other extras regarding our early dismissal. I will always remember that day.
