Has anyone compared the new release of Nothing Compares 2 U to the outtake? Are they the same track or was the official one "finished" in any way?
From what I can hear on the released version they added Clare Fisher's strings over the synth lines in the outtake and I'm not sure about the background vocals of Susannah and Paul, I can't hear much difference between the two versions in that.
Thanks for your insight!

I disagree, the original leak sounded tinny and lacked detail. This is a much better source.
yeah,sorry i disagree too...much better detail
With 17 Days I really think that the original Closer 2 God is the best to my ears at least - this new one runs at a slower speed and seems to come from the same source as the initial version but with the treble jacked way high to the point of sounding harsh if you want to play it loud [Edited 5/25/18 15:42pm] |

With most of them actually! With the exception of "Go", however with Mutiny and High Fasion as well, it just sounds like this "Supreme Sessisions" is the exact same source as Closer 2 God but with people importing the tracks into a DAW and applying their own EQ. To me, I perfer the Closer 2 God versions overall, they have a more organic and less shrill sound balance to them |

I was not a big fan of that tune so I didn't really listen to it, but listening to it now it seems to be a better source on this new one, which definitely puts it in the minority of the cuts I paid attention to closely. Mutiny, 17 Days, and High Fasion especially have painfully shrill high end to them that is hard to make them crankable and seem to be the same source as the Closer 2 God versions but with noise reduction and heavy EQ [Edited 5/25/18 22:59pm] |

i'm not so sure either. it's hard to tell if they are better quality of just tweekd by someone.
it would be very cool if the ones sharing these tracks, if they are indeed better sources, be willing to say they are just that.
or if indeed someone gets a single outtake in way better quality ('Go') and then packages it with some of their own updates, that's cool too, but it would be nice to know for sure.
my money is still on Databank. i'll just wait patiently until he's done his comparisons

Go is a upgrade all though somebody added there touches to the mix. The rest of them are fan remasters from the original raw files from tape. Somebody just added a Multiband compresser and de hissed them. |

Using EQ, 17 Days and the others I mentioned have the exact same sonic profile, transients and all, as the C2G version. Someone took the previous leak and tweaked it, to my ears. Go is a source upgrade for sure but for the ones I mentioned, they sound like the same source but with the treble goosed to give the impression of the veil being lifted, and de-noised. .
Everything on C2G was circulated as a lossy quality mp3 file. On the flac leak of these 'new' tracks (not the mp3 version of course), the following tracks are all from clean lossless sources (and should be the best quality available): 17 Days, A Million Miles (I Love You), Eternity, Feline, Go, New Position, It Ain't Over 'Till The Fat Lady Sings, Red Scarlett, Yah U Know, and Yo Mister. The majority of these songs were also from lossy quality sources on the Blast From The Past releases.

But personally based on my listening lossless or lossy, they sound like they come from the same source. For me I just find the EQ choices on this new version to be a bit harsher, and to me if I had to choose between a poorly mastered FLAC file or a high bitrate MP3 with better and less harsh high end, to me the MP3 wins. I still maintain with confidence that 17 Days, Mutiny, and High Fasion especially are all from the same source that C2G got them from [Edited 5/27/18 23:09pm] |

this. The "source" I mean isn't in terms of digital bitrate but that the lossy mp3 anx the lossless files both came from the same source, the lossless one just happens to be more heavily doused with unfavorable EQ choices to my ears |

Guys, I'm super sorry I couldn't update the OP, I've been snowed under work for the last 2 weeks (and will be until the end of this week at least). I haven't had the time to track down all those leaks, let alone listening to those I found and sorting out fakes and same quality from real improvements, and I also need to sort out all your contributions.
.
In the meantime, I really want to thank every contributor. Please keep posting and discussing. I'll sort it all out eventually. |

Also, please try to refrain from flooding the thread with subjective opinions on the leaks' artistic virtues.
.
For the sake of clarity, let's try to keep the thread focused on:
- What new is out, how is it titled/labeled, etc. (no "where to find it", of course, as per board rules)
- Sound quality improvement / New source / New version VS. Same as before falsely labeled as new
- Fake VS. Genuine
- Tape historicity of new leaks
...and any other things that are clearly focused on figuring out what really new is out.
.
Thx |

So a new collection of multiple songs have re-surfaced but again from a new source than their previous versions. They're circulating in FLAC. However I think all of their timings are off (faster) except for Coco Boys and Cross The Line.

There seems to be a little micro jump in 'Coco Boys' at around 4:45. I can't hear that little jump on the BFTP version.
