Saw the movie "Tully" over the weekend and recognized the main character shares a birth anniversary date with Prince. I know Cody lived for some time in Minneapolis and was wondering if this was a coincidence or if she's a fan.

Decent movie too. I mean, it's no Under the Cherry Moon, but it's no Grafitti Bridge either.

Who or what is a diablo cody?

I loved her book Candy Girl. I don't know if she is a Prince fan. I can't remember her saying anything about him in her book...maybe she referenced a song but I can't remember it's been over ten years since I read it.

I don't know if Diablo Cody is indeed a Prince fan, but just wanted to add that she also wrote the film "Young Adult" starring Charlize Theron, and Theron's character lived in Minneapolis (although the bulk of the film took place in a fictional MN town called Mercury, and the filming for that was done in NY state). But there are some scenes of Minneapolis in the film before Theron's character goes back to her hometown of Mercury. "Juno" and the movie "Jennifer's Body" (also written by DC) were also both set in either the Twin Cities or someplace in Minnesota.

Interesting she would use his birthday for her main character. I'm guessing she likes Prince, if she's the cool girl I want her to be. She has those Minnesota connections and was somewhat of a wunderkind too. You could probably ask her on social media, it's a good question, re the b'day. And who doesn't want to talk about ?

I like to think that everybody is a Prince fan, and then I talk to the collective of uber-stupid assholes that don't like Prince, or know nothing about him.

Maybe my misanthropy is acting up, but at those times, I feel, I am glad you are not a Prince fan.

To answer your question, I think this sounds deliberate, and likely. Yay another creative Prince fan. I love when artists make tributes like this.
