Prince 1999 RSD 2018

prince.1999.lp.rsd.2018.eu.jpg

This is an amazing sounding record that is pressed on 180 gram. It was a reissue from the 1983 single LP version because WEA (Europe) didn't think an unknown artist would sell many records at the time (however, 1999 2LP sold very well in the USA and it was the springboard for Purple Rain to become a huge selling album) and late 1983 it was reverted back to a 2LP set in Europe due to the high sales in the USA at the time. I snared a few copies for myself which I intend to keep due today is the second anniversary of Prince's passing for sentimental reasons. What really hurts that the most the flippers are selling RSD 2018 items at crazy prices and it's insulting... I have seen some going for over 300 bux on ebay today. Please Note... there are 13,000 RSD pressing of this record...I hope u fans have gotten yours. Rest in Purple Prince.

Rocking 1999 as we speak. Yep, sounds great on my system too. Dead silent. Gotta love the artwork! RIP Prince.

Just finished listening to the whole thing and wow this pressing really does sound incredible. Much better than my 80s 2LP pressing. Bernie Grundman does it again..

I'm lovin' this reissue - as with all of the reissues.

I compared this to my original 1983 version. The colours are very different. I wonder which pressing is a truer likeness to the colour of the jacket?

Naturally the paper stock is different. This stock is bleached white so the lettering on the back does stand out against the purple, whereas on the original the paperstock was slightly creamy.

Even in my office today you'd be amazed at how many shades of white paper we have!

lol

No way! I'd keep DMSR but chop Free. It's unlistenable.

Does anyone know who mastered this reissue? It says Bernie Grundman on the back, but I can't see his initials in the deadwax?

Prince: 1958-infinity. Thank U for everything.

Prince selected the 7 tracks at the time in 1983?
