It seems Jack Nicholson liked Prince, but did Prince like Jack Nicholson? To me the question still appears to be up in the air.

I thought Prince did respect Jack as an actor

I have a memory... that Prince said he had to pay Jack something like $50K to use his voice on the Batman soundtrack...

I would doubt that. All the samples were from the film, which is owned by WB. So if anything, Prince would have to get clearence from them, if at all.

From what I read years ago, it was actually Jack's idea to have his music on the film in the first place. P then decided to do a whole soundtrack.

They loved each other. Prince always had a soft spot for Jack Nicholson. It is in fact him that Prince wrote The Most Beautriful Girl In The World for. Mayte will perhaps say so in her next book on Prince.

Little known fact, Prince wrote "Head" after watching JN's 1968 film of the same name (of which JN was writer and producer).

I remember P saying somethng about the joker character (played by Jack) reminding him of Morris Day and so it inspired him to write Party Man. No?

Jack Nicholson was approached to star in Graffiti Bridge as Auran Gutan, a poetic schitzo ghost-like villian hell bent on destroying The Kid. But last minute script changes required the role be played by someone with a vagina - She became Aura and the rest is cinematic history.
