Which, of course, is the exact opposite of how he presented himself to the world and wanted others to think.

Transition is the half it. Someone would need to give those cars a good going over, first.

And he often spoke of his disdain for the corrupting forces of $$$. Actually, all his career choices and charity endeavors are a testament to that ethic.

Money meant nothing 2 him...hence it was scattered all over PPK from room to room $600 here, $10,000 there, $19 there. It is clear that he simply stopped caring...I was surprised w/ the guitars everywhere. They were scattered room 2 room as well....if he didn't care 4 anything, I would think he would've kept better keep of his guitars. ESPECIALLY the gold symbol 1, even his "new" guitar was in a side room in it's case along w/ some master recordings. I get the impression that dude simply stopped caring...now y he stopped caring is the "?".

Prince was NOT a slob he was in the process of turning his massive estate into a luxury museum. Actually the main parts were pretty tidy. I also LOVED his white bedroom and imagine the green one was for him to really rest in total peace. That place is HUGE! "That mountain top situation is not really what it's all cracked up 2 B when was doing the Purple Rain tour had a lot of people who knew 'll never c again @ the concerts.just screamin n places they thought they was suppose 2 scream."

Holy crap! You sound like my aunt who would wash my uncle's shirts before sending them to the cleaner so they could be professionally starched and pressed. She didn't want them to see his ring around the collar! Style is the second cousin to class

I can tell you know very little about the man. Put plainly, you're confusing his supposed personal philosophy towards money with the way he wanted to be perceived in the world--which is what I'm talking about. This is a man who never wore the same outfit twice, rented LA mansions for Hollywood parties, owned custom jewellery, had a line of perfume, had warehouse-sized collections of guitars, clothes, and motor vehicles, and was the proud owner of several gold bars and god-knows what else. AND YOU SAY HE NEVER PREACHED EXCESS! You have no idea what you're talking about do you?

Yeah, you're right. I envy that green room.

What I am about to say is all hearsay that I read on a Prince Facebook page in a comment section:
Prince did have contract housekeeping.

This is almost too ridiculous to respond too. Mitigating Prince's excessiveness by comparing it to one of the most excessive people on the planet. That's relative in your world, right? Jesus.

PennyPurple said: Why the heck was art work sitting on the kitchen/dining room floor for? His living quarters was not clean and it was like there was no upkeep to the building. The cars in the garage, sitting there with dust and crap all over them. It's like he didn't have any pride in PP anymore. What? The public part of the house seemed fine to me. Maybe not in the best possible taste, but well kept. He had recently refurbished one of the concert venues for the opening night of the P&M tour. The wooh is on the one!

Good points...like an artist’s studio...Basquiat. Yup. It looks more like the home of a real artist and less like the home of your avarage celebrity/business person. The wooh is on the one!

I´m very suprised to see how humbly he lived and how messy some of his rooms look. Not judging here and I also don´t think it´s much of a big deal but, based on all accounts so far, from interviews with childhood friends to biographies and books about his studio sessions, I would have expected his private rooms to look much cleaner and more organized, especially his desks and tables. His neat freak personality seems to have been replaced by a phase of a little bit of chaos toward the end. Not dirty or anything but way more messy than I ´d expected. Must´ve been difficult to keep such a huge place tidy all the time. The parts of Paisley Park that I´ve seen so far over the years always looked squeaky clean and supertidy to me, so seeing his private quarters and stuff like makeup and creams, brushes and supplements all over the place surprised me a bit. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

On a slightly different note, it would be great to see floor plans of Paisley park with an indicator of which pictures came from where.

Hell, if I go for a pedicure, I trim my own toenails, sand my own calluses, and shave my legs before anyone else lays a finger on them.
Yes - I am crazy. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Exactly! It looked like a place where a normal person lived. What was clean is what was suppose to be clean. Why would he watch them from behind plants and curtains, I wonder?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I am surprised no one mentioned here the potential impact of his drug use. This eventually takes a toll in keeping up with the details behind the scenes, even though he could do so publicly.

Exactly. Read his interviews and his lyrics. Do not confuse Style/Aesthetics with what he truly was about. Who cares how the “masses” perceived him?

. I thought his living quarters were relatively neat and tidy, with the exception of his make-up table. . The business area was very clean. . He did not have much in his bedroom. Nothing fancy, really. . The rest of the place looked like it was ransacked, and some of the rooms look like they were packing-up stuff.
