Prince and The Press

Hi everyone, I'm trying to find an article about Prince. It's an article that involves interviews of Neal Karlen and another journalist. They talk about what they believe caused Prince to be in so much pain. As I recall, Neal Karlen mentioned the hip pain and the loss of the two babies with Mayte and I can't remember what the other columnist mentioned. I would greatly appreciate a link or article title if anyone knows the article to which I am referring! Thanks, 206Michelle

.

EDIT: Title of this thread changed to "Prince and the Press" from "I'm trying to find an article." - 04/22/2018

I already tried that, both Google and searching the org. No luck.

Was the other journalist CJ? Here are two things I found:

http://www.startribune.com/c-j-neal-karlen-knows-lots-about-prince-just-don-t-call-him-the-prince-guy/375088911/

http://www.startribune.com/letters-from-prince-a-minneapolis-writer-remembers-his-relationship-with-a-lost-star/377555951/

There is also a site, and I can't find it on the Org just yet, that houses every article about/with Prince written. Perhaps the newer post-mortem article you're looking for is in there. Hopefully, a fellow Org'r can remember the URL.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Here's the article for which I was looking:

Prince and The Press

.

Prince had a love-hate relationship with the local press, which had the unenviable task of covering him in his hometown.

.

Excerpts:

RR [Robyne Robinson]: Always in and creating something new. I think he was lost. . . . I think he was lost for a period in the mid- to the late-’90s because his personal life was falling apart. He married Mayte, his baby died.

NK [Neal Karlen]: He never got over that. Not being able to dance [from hip and ankle problems] killed him. I really think it killed him. His babies and not being able to dance.
