Pretty sick that they've been released... or that any news organisiation would publish them (I'm sure plenty will though).

Is it normal that a police report made available to the public, would include those sort of photos?

I just saw one on my IG feed. I wasn't expecting it at all and I'm just heartbroken.I can't even imagine how his family and friends feel right now. It was posted by a "fan" so be careful of your social media too if you don't want to see the photos. I know I didn't.

Not only are there pics, there are close up videos... The Carver County Police released all the files.

Avoiding at all cost. Even the local news so far is walking wide circles around this and they've been reporting everything so far about it, but all this, barely a peep, like maybe 2 seconds worth and no pictures blurred or otherwise. So far.

It breaks my heart that this beautiful, complicated man whose privacy was so important to him has been treated like this.

Prince was full of charm, always carried himself with dignity and poise and this lack of respect just makes me so, so very sad.

Agree. So sad and unfair. Why and how the fuck the police thought it was necessary to release these photos/footage. Yes, the autopsy reports and info on the investigation etc but his dead body..Fucks sake

and maybe it is best to go see the images? I think most of us will see them at some point. I think I rather see them knowing they are coming and being able to prepare... as opposed to being surprised.

I clicked on a link someone had posted on another thread of pictures of the vault and the picture of Prince lying on the floor was in the right hand corner and caught my eye.

I wasn't prepared at all and I cried, all this is just so sickening to me,

I was not expecting anyone from the fan community to post them, though I don't think a person that truly loved Prince would do that.They posted it along with a warning that the media are showing them and to boycott the news outlets.

What the fuck this is is that there is no longer an active investigation. Once a case is closed, the documents become public record.

True, but even I feel like a line has been crossed. The body pictures were just not necessary to release to the public. They add nothing to the case--presumably what people want to read about. Something feels weird here too. For the sake of consistency, where are the death pics of Micheal Jackson on his bed or Whitney Houston in her bath? They have to exist. Quite rightly, someone made the decision to hold them back out of common decency. Why isn't that the case here?

But because so much info is unoranized and scattered here throughout the org....

All the files are released on the Carver County police website... It's not just pictures, it's the sad videos of his dead body on there for everyone and anyone to download.... I have no clue why they would make that public, it's sad.

That's what I did. I knew where they were, and I had avoided them, so I prepared myself on my own terms and looked. It wasn't out of ghoulish curiousity, it was so I could see it when I was ready and in the mindstate for it. With the shock factor taken out, and alone, I found myself oddly at peace seeing his face. He looked so calm, so above all this mess. Nothing that's happened since that day will ever impact him...he did his work and moved on. Taken on my own terms it was more like being at a wake and saying goodbye than being shocked by a news report.
