No common decency is right, pricetag. Makes me feel incredibly sad. Like we've lost him all over again.

That's what I did. I knew where they were, and I had avoided them, so I prepared myself on my own terms and looked. It wasn't out of ghoulish curiousity, it was so I could see it when I was ready and in the mindstate for it. With the shock factor taken out, and alone, I found myself oddly at peace seeing his face. He looked so calm, so above all this mess. Nothing that's happened since that day will ever impact him...he did his work and moved on. Taken on my own terms it was more like being at a wake and saying goodbye than being shocked by a news report.

Yes,as horrified as I was at seeing it,I did notice how at peace he appeared to be and found that some what comforting.

I have no idea how anyone is "stumbling across" or being surprised by any photos. I haven't seen anything remotely disturbing. I must suck at the internet or something. lol

I think there are two conversations going on here. One is about imagery people can access (bad) and the other is about imagery people can see floating around (not as bad).

I won't be searching for them or going to any social media pages. It is best not to look at them and don't give it anymore attention. It is just the sad reality of people wanting to exploit famous people just to make a buck and get more views on their pages. I choose to remember Prince in life.

all i am saying is at some point you are likely to see one... you will not be looking but some ass will make a meme with it or something and most of us will see it... maybe you will think it is fake (he posted a photo of himself pretending to be gone...and they look a little similar--just turned over) like someone on FB insisted...

I am not sure what is best...

ok. Nevermind. I did see them now. UGH. cry For whatever reason, he does look peaceful. And I know it's just coincidence, and because the paramedics had moved him....but as he's laying in the pictures....his arms/hands almost look like they're in a guitar playing position. cry Sad and comforting at the same time to see that.

What the fuck this is is that there is no longer an active investigation. Once a case is closed, the documents become public record.

There are legal provisions to block and redact certains aspects of the investigation records release. Pictures or video that shock certain public sensibilities could have been blocked.

For whatever reason the thought of passing looked worse in my mind. Prince looks very much at peace when he died but be ready to cry and breakdown. They should have never released the pictures. I agree with Only that if you are on social media or venture online eventually you will see them, so prepare. Feel like I got more closure lately but have hard time listening to his music at this point. Prince's death was avoidable and pointless to me but it is good to know he left this place in peace.

What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?

True, but even I feel like a line has been crossed. The body pictures were just not necessary to release to the public. They add nothing to the case--presumably what people want to read about. Something feels weird here too. For the sake of consistency, where are the death pics of Micheal Jackson on his bed or Whitney Houston in her bath? They have to exist. Quite rightly, someone made the decision to hold them back out of common decency. Why isn't that the case here?

[Edited 4/20/18 12:01pm]

They don’t exist.

Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston were taken to and pronounced dead at the hospital, while Prince was pronounced dead at the scene. Since Paisley Park was, until determined otherwise, a crime scene, the body of Prince would be left there and photographed since he is already dead. Pictures of Michael dead on a gurney were shown during the trial of his doctor while pictures of Whitney in a coffin were leaked by the National Enquirer.

Yes, sadly the difference between Prince and MJ/Whitney is that he was alone and they weren't. That changes the scene and the investigation.

Thank you. Your words have given me a bit of comfort because I was getting distraught at the thought of coming across the pics unprepared.

Hearing that he looked peaceful is a tremendous help to me.

I’ve never seen the pictures of MJ or Whitney. I hope I’ll never see Prince’s either. Not because I won’t be able to cope with the shock or anything like that, but out of respect for him (for them). I wouldn’t want random people to look at photos or videos of my dead body, and I want to extend the same courtesy to everyone else. I’m not judging anyone who prefers to see them, I just don’t want to.

It doesn’t take exceptional knowledge to quote common police protocol in regards to DAS (Dead at scene) victims vs. DOA (Dead on arrival) victims. And the MJ trial was shown on television and the National Enquirer photo of Whitney can be ( unfortunately)easily found on the internet, that’s how I know.

I'm speculating that they exist--given that there would have been authorities, at both scenes, carrying recording devices. You, on the hand, won't speculate and seem intent on shutting the speculation down. I wonder why? I repeat. for someone who wasn't there, you seem very sure of yourself. That's boring.

The media hasn't done anything wrong by releasing these pictures. The investigation has closed, and by law, the information is made public. If something disturbs you, you are not required to view it.

.

For some people, this helps in finding closure in Prince's death. It answers a lot of questions -- not everything, but more than we knew 2-years ago.

.

It was hard for me to see Prince laying there, lifeless. If the authorities withheld this info, then you would have people upset that they were hiding stuff.......

My question is, why are people (not you, just people in general) so interested in seeing 'celebrities' dead bodies? Like why did the National Enquirer even want to try to get a picture of MJ's dead body? I think it just shows how messed up people are. Like, I'd rather remember them at their peak, when they were full of life. It's sad. sad

Whilst I understand that some people have an issue with seeing ANY death photos, its the passage of life.

As someone that doesn't believe in sky fairies, I find it a little wierd that those that do view this in horror, are often the ones who equally argue its a transition. Surely if you agree with Prince that its a day of celebration, then surely these pics are a glory?

I partially agree with you. I think there's nothing wrong with the actual taking of the photograph, as it may be part of an investigation, etc. I just dont think it's any of the general public's business to view it. Like, I wouldn't want people to view my dead body, I think it's really personal and kind of gross and just not necessary.

The religious aspect I don't get either, as I am not religious also.

Who knows? But you have my argument exactly wrong. I'm arguing for not releasing them...if only for consistency's sake (Jackson, Houston et al).

If I was a believer in sky fairies, then I would want my death picture everywhere, as its clear show of progression to the 'other side'. Am I missing something?
