Prince Commercial

So I was watching TV and that Dr. Pepper commercial that reminds me of Prince came on and I got to thinking, did Prince ever do any commercials? Like how Michael did Pepsi? Just curious.

I remember in the mid 80s Prince Pasta has a TV
advert where they had the sound of a crowd roaring as a voice narrator said, “Ladies and gentleman... Prince!” and then they showed the pasta box on a stage.

Prince evidently sued them and the ad went away.

Does anyone else remember this??

Only ones I remember are the Beyonce Loreal commericals that featured Prince music in the background. I don't think either songs were officially released.

I thought he wrote the music for the Ray Charles Pepsi commercial? The one that says 'You got the right one, baby!'. Am I wrong?

Ray also sang the "Uh huh" song Which might be part of the same thing.

PizzaHut used the music of cream in their commericials while D&P was on the charts.(Just no vocals).

Prince did a commercial for Target to promote his exclusive deal with them for Lotus Flower. Pretty good spot, which you can find on YouTube

The only Prince commercial that comes to mind is the one he did for "Verizon"(in 2006 I think)
It's on YouTube.

http://www.princevault.com/index.php?title=Coca-Cola

Coca-Cola is an unreleased track recorded in Autumn 1992, presumably at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota (the track was filed at the Library of Congress on 22 October 1992). It is believed that the track was written as a theme for the Coca-Cola Company, and most likely in particular for their Coca-Cola soft drink (the Coca-Cola Company sponsored the Act II Tour in 1993). The track's lyrics indicate that it was recorded for a commercial (including "Life is exciting, oh yeah, but when you’ve got the real thing, it's better. Coca-Cola, go get some, it’s the real thing. Always Coca-Cola."), but the track is not known to have been used commercially, although the phrase "Always Coca-Cola" was used widely in marketing campaigns beginning in 1993; this phrase was likely given to Prince to use, however, rather than being originated by him.

Prince mentioned it in the 85 Rolling Stone interview:

"And I thought the Prince Spaghetti commercial was the cutest thing in the world. My lawyers and management are the ones who felt it should be stopped. I didn't even see the commercial until after someone had tried to have it stopped. A lot of things get done without my knowledge because I'm in Minneapolis and they're where they are."

Prince songs in ads By memory:

Tina Turner did "Baby I'm a Star" for target

Prince did a verizon ad to promote Guitar

There was an ad for Lotus Flower exclusively at target

there were ads for some of his albums too.

and Check E Cheese used a lyrical altered "I feel for you" (Chaka's version) for their restaurants.

Housequake was used in an ad in Europe too...

There has been no confirmation, but it definitely sounds like him and the music he was making around 2009 to 2010. I think its highly unlikely that Beyonce who had a mutual respectful relationship with Prince would have knock off Prince music in a high profile commercial.

Sounds like a lot of conjecture. How do we know Beyonce had input into what music was used? Not saying you're wrong, just very curious about this as it's the first I've heard...

The part at 05 in the first clip where he says, "You gotta know it." That just sounds like Prince's classic falsetto. There is a history of Prince doing stuff like this. He gave some outtake music to former MSNBC host and friend Tamron Hall for her show's theme.

The show was News Nation with Tamron Hall. She is no longer with MsNBC so finding clips might be hard. The music was a MadHouse instrumental called 17 which was featured on 1-800-New-Funk so it preety old.

I seem to remember as a kid in the mid to late 1990s that there was an advertisement for either toothpaste or toothbrushes where the backgroud music was an instrumental version of Kiss. I'm not even sure it was the original song, it may have just been an instrumental cover of the track.
