Ahh!!!! So happy I saw it on YouTube before listening to it on Spotify. The footage made it so emotionally charged. Damn. This is a pretty great release. There should be a moratorium before we start nitpicking though (I'm looking at you single artwork).

Something is at long last happening and hopefully more will come. This is real good news and I thank the estate, WB and the Nelson family for that . . Now I'll be honest, I don't wanna spoil the party or bitch at the Estate or WB, let alone Prince's family, but I think certain things raise questions or could be improved. . - I suspect Prince would have been infuriated by the video, in the sense that the pictures aren't syncronized to the music, and he looks like a fool moving, singing and dancing in a vacuum like that. I find this really embarrassing I understand and respect how and why it was meant respectfully, as well as how and why some may find it moving, but I personally find it quite disrespectful as such. I think it would be more respectful to release videos with their original sound on one hand and, on the other hand, to make lyrics videos or cartoons or whatever else if they need new promo videos for posthumous releases. . - The sound quality on NC2U has issues that makes me question the "vault multitracks" story, particularly after the suspiscious circumstances around Moonbean Level and PR Deluxe, allegedly sourced from mere cassettes. And we needn't forget the rumor that the vocals on the original multi-tracks had been erased when Paul's were recorded (I believe Alan Leeds is the source but I'm not sure, it could also be a mere urban legend). Now I don't wanna call anyone a liar: if they say it's from the vault, then OK. I'm just saying the lack of transparency surrounding PR Deluxe makes everything suspiscious. I'm cool with the estate releasing cassettes if they can't find any multitracks for any specific song, I just believe it'd be really positive to just tell us what the source for each recording is from now on, so no doubt is left. . - I also can't help wondering whether the edit that's on the physical release is an original edit from 1985, or something made for this specific release. I don't wanna throw accusations but I wish this had been clearly stated. I would rather not see any posthumous edits or remixes. Just please leave it all as such. And again, there's the suspiscious Our destiny/Roadhouse Garden precedent. . - The discography site is a great initiative (I, of all people, would have to be insane to say the contrary), but some info regarding credits has clearly been taken, as such, from Princevault. I find it awesome that they've taken the effort to look for real credits as opposed to just copying the official credits on the booklets (or writing nonsense as on PR Deluxe), but I think it'd be respectfuil to credit Princevault when they borrow info from them, given the hard work done by Pvault (and I, for one, know how much time those volunteer projects require). Pvault has a Creative Commons licence that requires credits to be given. The site is also hard to navigate and detailed album infos could be more accurate but I'm sure this can, and will be improved on the long run. Not everything has to be perfect on day 1 . So in the ends, I'll say again that I don't mean to bitch: I realize that the estate has an incredible responsibility, to honor the legacy of one of our times' most significant artist while satisfying an extremely demanding fanbase. I welcome those new initiatives and the promise for more that's been made, and I'm glad they chose to commemorate Prince's passing that way. I just believe fans can help by giving feed-back and advices because, with all due respect, we can all work together to be the best possible "singular, authoritative source on all things Prince" (to quote the website's bold statement). ^^^What baffles me the most is that he chose to release the Rosie duet instead of this. This is so, so much better!

It would indeed have been a great addition to The Hits. On the other hand, Prince chose to alter that original recording significantly for the Family release, so it's possible he wasn't satisfied with it and favored the new, post-Sinead arrangement. That would make sense since he kept playing that specific version (with minor alterations) live for years, never truly going back to the original cut. BartVanHemelen said: . Hot-damn. Awesome footage and this is just a rehearsal. I'm sorry I can't resist doing this. So sorry. Bart you might want to read the brightly coloured banner at the top of the page on Prince.org. As a newbie you might have overlooked it but it does state that links to YouTube videos of Prince are not allowed and will be deleted and the member will be warned, apparently these rules will be strictly enforced. Just plead guilty and you'll probably be forgiven. Easy mistake to make.

I am sure the strings are on the bootleg as well...sometimes they seem to be lost in the mushiness of the quality but I think they are there and it seems to be the same length and same speed. "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

actually, it might just be mixed differently...hard to tell without spending some time on headphones... The guitar sounds a lot clearer, that’s for sure. It makes me dream of a version in which instead of Eric’s (amazing) sax we have a fierce guitar solo... who knows, maybe it’s out there...

I saw Prince's name trending and was happy. And saw they released a new demo, so was thrilled. And then I listened to the vocals and the music and I was stoked But while watching that footage.... those smiles...that face...

there may be more ... i was going back and forth 5 or so seconds each with the youtube first and them my MP3...and I did not notice any differences other than quality. then i listed them both at nearly the same point and they got off by about a second over the 4.5 mins of the song...but that slight echo was cool for then part.
