Prince was notorious for being an ass when it came to licensing music for use in TV shows and movies.
And you're notorious for being an ass whenever you post here and talk directly about Prince (except for the week or two after he died). So what's your point? |

It's a very short list. It's so rare that such appearances would actually be reported here. (Hence this thread.)
Most of the people who visit this site are Prince fans. As fans, many of us are interested in minutiae like Prince's music being used on the soundtrack of a major motion picture. It's not that it's a big deal; it's just something for fans to note and chat about.

Bart isn't even a Prince fan. His posting here is the same thing as a middle-aged man buying a Corvette or Charger.
Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

This is very cool news! Thanks for sharing.
However IWBYL was actually released in 1979
That's a close call...on the pop chart, IWBYL peaked at #11 in early 1980. So it can technically be considered an 80s hit.
The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Good, this is what needs to happen. Get those songs in high profile movies, keep the estate running, and introduce his music to future generations.
You mean keep the songs in movies. His songs have been in plenty of movies, of course.

Indeed, "I Wanna Be Your Lover" was ranked by Billboard as the 95th biggest hit of 1980 (though I'm pretty sure Billboard's annual calculations start from mid-to-late November of the previous year and end in mid-to-late November of the "current" year).

I'm almost 100% certain that the American Top 40 countdown of the top 100 songs of 1980 was the first time I heard a Prince song. I think it ran on New Year's Day, just a couple of days after my 12th birthday.
Billboard also ranked "I Wanna Be Your Lover" as the #9 single of 1980 on the soul chart. |

Also in the movie the head character in the VR is trying to decide what to wear to go to a danceclub and impress a girl.. One of the outfits he considers is Prince's PURPLE RAIN look. It's awesome. |
