I actually agree with his comment about not celebrating his death in April. I know people are saying it's a celebration of the man and his music, but I personally would prefer that to take place in June, on his birthdate. This celebrating on the day he died just doesn't sit right with me.

I completely understand his and your sentiments. I think the family/estate must have decided to do this annual Celebration because of his comments to Mel B when she interviewed him about celebrating the day of his death, rather than his birthday. Plus, as a Jehovah's Witness, he famously did not celebrate birthdays. Still, that doesn't make it any less painful every year in April.
