you know, despite parade being my favorite prince album, i've never been able to get into the shows
from the tour. it all just sounds so cluttered and too fast. but i'll give it another go i guess.

I get that, it's the same complaint lots of people have about Livesexy; too many snippets, no time to get into things. But the difference is, there was an official video release for Livesexy, so in that way, the audio made sense more.

I bet that once The Estate wakes up, a video release of the 1986 tour will be high on their 'most requested'-list.

To me, personally, this tour was the first I saw Prince live. And it made an impact. The show is meant to be seen and indeed suffers from it's 'audio only' treatment.

I think both this 86 show and the leaked 83 show are amazing to have in such quality, but as a whole, they do not tickle me much, as both shows are rather formulaic. Which is also the case with some of his most admired tours, but somehow he was able to make it sound more exciting, musically.

true, a good dvd release of some of these shows might make me appreciate it more.

You mean Lovesexy. Livesexy is the name of a bootleg video.

I picked up 2 official videos of the Dortmund show from my local Our Price in the 90s (UK)– pretty sure that they were called Livesexy 1 & 2. Oddly, Livesexy 2 contained the first half of the show, Livesexy 1 the second.

*EDIT*

No, you're correct, I'm mistaken (a along time ago smile ).

NO TROLL THREADS! NO SOLICITING FOR BOOTLEGS! Discussion is fine, so long as the bootleg is not being promoted e.g. pre-release; requests/offers to share or copy, and links to download or bootleg sites are not. Posting Prince and associated artist videos from sites such as YouTube is also not allowed. Posts of this nature will be deleted and repeat offenders will be first warned, and then banned. Troll threads, fake tracklists, and attention seeking rumor threads will be also be swiftly dealt with. These rules are strictly enforced!

Excellent quality on this one! I haven't done a comparsison yet but this just might be my favorite bootleg from the Parade Tour. Love it! headbang

My favorite shows from the Parade Tour are Boston, Sweden, the last Revolution Show, and the full Detroit Birthday show, in that order. The energy and fun of the Boston show put it just slightly above the Sweden Show for me. So, I know you haven't compared the new release yet. But, when you do, I'd be interested to know where you rank this one in relation to those four.

Still haven't done a comparison (who knows when I'll have time for such a fun project), but, off the top of my head from memory:

I like Boston a lot, but the version I listened to had some audio problems in the early part of the show.

The classic Sweden show from the original City Lights is pretty good.

The last Revolution show from Japan is terrific, but, iirc it's only circulating as an audience recording, so, great show or not, I'll never put it up there with some of these great soundboards.

The Detroit show is pretty great and the one I'm most likely to prefer over this new one. I don't know if I've ever heard the "full" show, though.

You didn't mention Paris, it's pretty great too.

Again, i was at the Aug 3 1986 show..
Prince got pissed and did no encores at all.
When he was singing “SISIA” people were throwing
shit at his mike.
During “PR” a young woman ran onto the stage
& gave Prince a hug.
He said “ i guess this is what love is all about”.
Prince gave Wendy a hand signal & he ended the
show abruptly.
The lights went on & the show was over.
So the recording of this show is the full setlist.
He didn’t do kiss, mountains or America.
My brother & i were pissed at the time.
“What the show is over, no kiss?”

I was there too. Couldn't see the stage well enough to see people throwing anything. We didn't know what happened and why he didn't perform "Kiss" as it was a hit at the time. Still had a good time at the concert though

Sadly, I don't remember the Paris show off the top of my head, which means I must dig through my stash. I tend to stop collecting shows from tours once I find enough shows that have either great video or audio, unless, of course, I find a show that has a song or two that isn't on something that I already have or, as in some cases, the performance of one song is just so different and better than the performance of that song from the shows that I already have. (I'm more into collecting video of live shows than I am into the audio of live shows unless there is an excellent audio that blows away anything I have on video.) That being said, I have mostly enjoyed the Detroit show as a video, including the full show, which I found on a site from which I downloaded it for free and a site where someone was selling it. Since I'm more into live video, I have software that allows me to rip the sound from the video, edit the sound as best I can, and listen to it just as an audio if I'd like just to hear it.

This recording is remarkable! Everything is really well balanced. I am just pathetically grateful to be listening to it, and the night beforehand! Much props to the persons who kept these tapes and made them available for us to enjoy.

I fully agree! If I may: the one & only drawback is that Anotherloverholenyohead is cut at the end.

I was at both shows, the opening night Sat. 8/2 was the longer of the two. I had a floor seat maybe 12th row on 8/3 and Wendy bit an apple and tossed it over our heads. I believe this was right before her solo on "I wonder U." That was earlier in the show from what I recall (nearly 32 yrs ago LOL). Maybe that sparked the crowd to toss stuff back at the stage later. Frankly, I don't recall the incident but do remember the 8/3 show being cut short. The huge plus on 8/3 was Sheila sauntering through the crowd (maybe 10' away from my seats) and onto the stage for an amazing rendition of "A Love Bizzare" Which went into P jumping around in some funky PJ's and a very cool trench coat. He was having a blast dancing and playing guitar..."something about the roof the roof is on fire...LOL.

Definitely would enjoy hearing this show again.

Has anyone heard the rest of the America/Parade set? The sound quality of this show is outstanding. I'm hoping the rest of the set is of the same quality, particularly the First Ave. show.

This one is representative of the tour. If you don't dig the show from other boots you probably still won't.

yup, still the same for me, i'm skipping through it now. i don't know exactly what it is.

it's also wendy and lisa. i've always loved their contributions and presence on prince's
albums. but in the live shows they bother me. i'm just not a fan, let's put it like that.

in fact, compared to prince's post 1992 live output, i like his revolution concerts about
30% compared to all his other bands.

but that's another thread. i'm sure enough people are already sharpening their knives lol

There was a FLAC version making the rounds but it was not lossless, it was merely a transcode of the same 320kbps mp3 that everybody else is sharing.

Thanks for letting me know. This is a great sounding show. Right up there with Stockholm and Detroit.
