Around the world in a day, sign of the times, purple rain In my opinion and its only my opinion these are his greatest albums but of the three which would you say is his best. For me its around the world in a day mainly because pop life is the first prince track I ever heard which got me into him and made me explore what else was out there also the ladder is my favourite prince track. I'm just like everybody else I need love.....and water.

You're basing an opinion on fond memories, not artistry. Someone might have a funny memory around "Jughead" - that doesn't make it a classic track. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Out of those 3 albums, I'd rank them Sign O the Times, then Purple Rain, then Around the World In a Day. It's funny though because I'd rank Pop Life as one of my 2 or 3 favorite tracks from among all three. Having answered your question, though, I must say that I'd bump Around the World In a Day from your greatest albums list for Parade (first) or 1999 (second) in a New York minute. Of the three you picked I would go with Sign o the Times as the best.

For me it's Purple Rain, then SOTT, then ATWIAD. What I love about PR is how it just feels like a perfect album, everything fits together so well and there's not an ounce of fat on it. From the first note to the last it's all brilliant. Now SOTT is great too, with a fantastic amount of variety and very expansive but it feels more like a connection of very, very good songs rather than the more organic project feel of PR, which is course is indicative of how the albums were put together. And in third place for me it's ATWIAD, a good album with some killer tracks but I'm just not so fond of last two ones on there. But if Prince had changed it around and put She's Always In My Hair on the album instead then I think it really could have been an outstanding album.
