New Leak :Billy Its out there. The 1983 version of billy. This version clocks in at 11:31 seconds. It also sounds more like a blues jam. |

Yes - completely different vibe than the guitar one we've known for all these years. Similar "feeling" to the 6/7/84 version of "Something in the Water". This is awesome!! So many treasures... |

I believe so yes. I haven't heard it either but BB King has a song of that name and I don't know what else it would be. Heavenly wine and roses seems to whisper to me when you smile...

I can't put my finger on it, but Prince played How Blue Can You Get at one of his Paisley Park shows, I guess it was in 1995. It was called "Volkswagen Blues" on the bootleg it came out on later.
The punchline of the song (as recorded by B.B. King) is: "I gave you a brand new Ford, You said: I want a Cadillac! I bought you a ten dollar dinner You said: Thanks for the snack! I let you live in my penthouse Lord you called it a shack! I gave you seven children Now you wanna give them back."
Prince changed the Ford to a Volkswagen - hence the (wrong) title.

I've heard a couple of rehearsal leaks of this and the talent of the musicians astounds me. So much of Prince's work defies the usual chord progressions. He's literally having to call, and they respond and memorise. I can't imagine having to be so utterly switched on and responsive for hours and hours of rehearsal and performance. I guess that's why they were so tight. I'm looking out for a purple dolphin. | |
