i just skimmed through most of the picture book by azhar, it is ok, great great stories about prince. they talk of how manipulative and convincing he could be, how stubborn, how he was aware that he should use his wealth to help others make a living but he also was quirky as fuck. One of the funnier stories was he brought in a pastry chef when he didn't even eat pastries to begin with, lady moves from ny, prince fires just about everyone and then hires the pastry chef as the accountant when she tries to tell him she can't do it he says "dollars, cents, teaspoons, what's the difference" and one of the npg member replied to this same lady when she told him "come see me if there is a problem with your check" "I'll come see you if I want a tray of cookies".

i doubt she was around long, no one was around long that i know of except for morris and kirk. Prince burned people out, but it's not just him, there is turn over in all occupations but it don't help when you have someone who is that driven. He'd try to get people not to sleep like him, i worked for a guy like him, i told him i wasn't crazy like him and i needed my sleep.

The stories reflect not only his crazy, sometimes dark experiences but also his contributions to the world of music — from Elvis to Al Jarreau, Richard Harris to Yanni, Hendrix to K-Tel, Prince to The Revolution.

it's a case of working inspite of itself. you gotta just love him more when you read those stories though "dollars, cents, teaspoons, what's the difference?"

But he had plenty of money in the end and I think it is hard to imagine having so much money and gift that allows you just to keep earning until you drop that you do not care about the money so much.

ali and elvis have rich estates inspite of them not knowing what to do with money. Prince did some brilliant things businesswise, and he did some goofy things too, with that much talent you can do that. in fact, he was ahead of his time with the record company war, way ahead.

Prince actually cares for this fella. He just became tired of the chaos that was happening at the time. Mr. Husney knows that. Prince has wished him well. Period. Take care Mr. Husney.--

No one said he did not care about Owen. I am questioning if Owen is going to be honest about not really believeing Prince was going to make it and not wanting to put his business on the line. Which is actually very resaonable reason to not to continue manager a client. See the Pepe interview below since you missed it. Over the years I have never read anything other then Owen saying that got into over a space heater. -----------
See Pepe's interview.
http://beautifulnightschitown.blogspot.com/2013/05/the-work-pt-1-pepe-willie-talks-2.html
They practiced in our home from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., 10 hours a day. They worked really hard. Prince gotten a sum of money and he was buying all this new equipment from all the stores. Husney was his manager.
One day, Prince was at his home after rehearsal. I went over there, because, I couldn't get him on the phone. It was after they had practiced for 10 hours. So, I'm over (at his) house on France—he had just got signed by Warner Brothers, so, he had his own home. I was knocking on the door and he's not answering. I hear this tapping from the back of the house.
So, I go around to the side of the house, I look in these windows and I can see Prince playing drums. He's kicking drums after 10 hours of rehearsal. So, in between the beats, I'm knocking on the window, so, he can hear me. Then, he finally heard me and I said "Open the door, man!" So, he opens the door. We go down in the basement and we're talking. He was talking about what he needed. I said "Look man, your manager is supposed to be doing this stuff for you" and I said "Well, I'll go talk to (Husney)."
The next day, I go to (Husney's) office; he had an ad company. I said "Well, Prince needs this and Prince needs that. You're his manager and you're supposed to do this stuff for him."
Then he said --and these are his exact words-- "What, am I supposed to quit my job here at the ad company for some guy who probably won't make it?" I couldn't make that up...
Then I said, " [T]hen you're out, you're fired." I don't know if I had the right to say it, but, I said it, because, I was protecting my cousin. He said "Well, why don't you be his manager?"
I said, "Well, I'm not a manager. I can't be his manager. But, I'm not going to let him get screwed out here." Those were my exact words. So, I went back to Prince and let him know what was going on. He and Husney parted ways shortly after that. So, now, Prince needed management. He's signed to Warner Bros. He's got a good record out that's doing well, For You. But, he had no manager.
I knew Don Taylor, manager of Bob Marley and The Wailers, through my connections. I called him and said "I've got a guy who's signed with Warner Bros. His name is Prince and he needs management." He said, "Yeah, I know Mo Ostin (then president of Warner Bros. Records)." He sent Prince and myself two first-class airline tickets to fly to Miami. He got us both hotel rooms. He came over to the hotel and he and Prince went back to his house to talk business. I just stayed out of the way.
I told Prince, "Look, I'm not a manager, but, I'm not going to let you get screwed." But, I did manage him for 30 days. Warner Bros. as sending me all the correspondence and necessary things.

I wonder did Prince ever show his appreciation for that? "That mountain top situation is not really what it's all cracked up 2 B when was doing the Purple Rain tour had a lot of people who knew 'll never c again @ the concerts.just screamin n places they thought they was suppose 2 scream."

he was close to it, i think he had less than a mill in the bank but his earning power was so great, it's not like he couldn't have handled it if he was healthy. MJ was fucked too they really pulled a number on him meaning the company that wanted him to perform, sounds like he got himself financially so obligated to them he had to do 50 shows when he didn't think he could. the stress over fighting over that money has to have something to do with how these guys end up.

there is an early nineties docu, it's probably still on youtube with pepe willie's interviews along with chazz, Prince burned a lot of people in those years, had no problem cutting people off, using people and leaving them behind, it worked for him.

Well it's not like Prince asked him to do it. His being born a genius and his endless hard work payed off and turned him into a superstar. "That mountain top situation is not really what it's all cracked up 2 B when was doing the Purple Rain tour had a lot of people who knew 'll never c again @ the concerts.just screamin n places they thought they was suppose 2 scream."

he wasn't a nice guy in those early years, one of the things i enjoy most with his passing is all the stories about how he mellowed. I mean, i understand why he was like that, he had it tough and when you come from that it can make you into a real bastard but personally, i never liked when people are cruel to others just because they can be and he was, many times.
some of it is understandable because if people are small minded and can't see but so far and you can see so much farther than them, they got to go, those are tough decisions and he had an easy time making them. the docu i mentioned is called prince unauthorized and i'm watching it on yt right now. Please explain how he was cruel to people. The music business is tough and if was not tough he would have been eaten alive.
A lot of the associates cry too much and take no responsibility for there own actions. I by no means think Prince was a saint but I doubt he was cruel to anyone and people were free to leave.
