Didn't Prince when last asked about him say "I don't know who that is" ? cesspool? wait aminute. personally, i could do without most of these people coming here, i don't think we need to set aside our objectivity for them. any info they have can usually be gleaned from other sources.

Yea! A dig that says I don't feel you're worth mentioning or acknowledging anymore. I think it was on Lary King and he said something like "My first manager who's name escapes me..." "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

I will post a interview with Pepe Willie and you can see what Owen really thought about his client. I love how these folks never tell on themselves.

prince was ambitious, he outgrew a lot of people who's vision was just too small, i been reading about prince a lot longer than most here so i know what husney did for Prince. And ya, Prince got to the point where he didn't have good people around him but everything he did up until purple rain, management wise, worked great for him.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
he also says that he was paid enough to be happy to let prince go, not a case of anyone getting burned. Prince made a ton of mistakes, leaving husney was not one of them.

True! But It was more great things that happen to him after Purple Rain. Under his own management. The Musicology 2004 year was his most groundbreaking year and made him the MOST money. Also a decade afterwards finally getting ownership of his Master Recordings made him transend at peace a happy man. Bring on the books while these people are still alive!
They are all part of the jigsaw of how a shy, small, poor young man basically used the system re/create himself into the image of a giant rock star. [Edited 3/7/18 19:38pm] [Edited 3/7/18 19:40pm] Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

that's right, just like elvis or mj had a million people telling a million different vantage points, we need that with Prince. I'm not tired of the book, the only ones i would avoid are the ones that are almost always shallow, the ones written by bodyguards or ex-girlfriends.

He had serious problems with his PR mgrs and loads of people complained about Steve Fargnoli being butt face. [Edited 3/8/18 2:34am]

OMGosh That is fabulous!!

i'm sure he did, he was far from poor after PR although i'm sure people were stealing money left and right, happens to all the stars. People forget but the beatles were screwed during their prime years, elvis died with less than a mill in the bank, artists generally don't make good businessmen. Prince actually did exceptionally well.

Steve ripped him off. But I sometimes think it's very suspect & extremely sad that he passed away not long after obtaining ownership of his Master recordings. He NEVER got the chance to reap the benefits financially from it. Even though he died a much wealthier man than MJ... Oh lawd, when will it stop. This is a man who got fired by Prince for not bringing him a space heater. Still Owen did shop him to the companies and was the first to sign him up to any deal (American Artists) and later he got Andre sent to him. . Still, it is hardly a books worth. My shelf is nowhere as good as that, but the one shelf will soon be 2. I have bought 5 books in the past year and looking to score some more. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name
