The Work Pt 1 is the only recorded song I can think of. I know he says it a lot, or used to, during the live shows. The Sign 'O' The Times video is full of it. Proud member of Prince's cult for 20 years! | |

I truly believe he is thanking that individual person at that specific moment in time for allowing him to be part of their world. Of course the converse of that would be him telling us nicely that we should be saying "thank you" to him for composing, producing and perforing for us.
Doesn't he say thank u in one of those slow songs like "For the tears in your eyes"? | |

He needed to thank us at the end of each disc on Emancipation... thanks for buying this! NPS too... Personally . I think we are all Boring with No Lives cause all we do is talk about Prince,Criticize and Gossip. I need a Horny Man is what I Need and probably so do most of yas. Can't think of any (outside of the 2 mentioned) where it sounds like he's thanking someone other than God and/or the listener...

It does ruin it a little for me, not because he says it, but because he says it so often. Same thing w/ repeatedly introducing the band members. Although, at least now I know who plays sax, keyboards, drums and "da bone" I'm firmly planted in denial |

I think he is thanking us, for buying, listening to and digging his music, and for supporting him. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you. | |
