... but I'm FINALLY back to listening to him pretty freely I know some of you will think "WGAF??" but I know there are others here who felt the same way - it was just too painful, had to let it dull a bit. Treated it like an assignment, just let the iPod run, & I'm just glad to be able to hear him again w/o feeling too sad (most of the time). Still avoiding some diffucult songs, but the bulk of the catalogue is back in rotation. I missed his voice too much, & I'll miss him forever...

That's great! A lot of songs have come out lately.You have a bunch to discover

Everybody processes these kinds of things differently. I never stopped listening to his music and only welled up once or twice since, the last time being when I played the Piano/Mic performance of Purple Rain and it touched me more profoundly than it normally did.

But on the whole, his music still does to me what it did all these 34 years; it makes me utterly, utterly happy.

Glad you are back to playing him again.

Totally with you CS. for me it wasn't that long ago either. AND it was affecting my enjoyment of all music, old and new, just like the spark had gone out.

But now, I am full on. Been blasting Janelle's Make Me Feel all this weekend not that that reminds me of Prince or anything

I feel u... I gravitated towards his music when he left us. Purple Rain was the last song I wanted to hear when he was with us... now it brings tears when I play it. Funny how that works.

Been hard NOT to listen to him as the radio etc is playing him all over the place the past year.
