Which Prince concert is your favorite? Sign of the times concert was on showtime last night.it had me thinking that its great that people with sattelite are able to see how good prince was but then i started thinking ive seen many prince concerts that are better than sign of the times. The montreoux 2013 shows are a good example.People praise syracuse 1985 concert but that concert can get a little annoying with all the theatrics and prince talking to the audience a lot.It seems that as he got older he dropped theatrics and focused on musicianship.Musicology LA 2004 is better than syracuse.Maybe oneday that concert will be on showtime. So what is your favorite Prince concert and why? it can be on dvd or it can be one you attended yourself.

Amsterdam, Melkweg 2011, second night. I'd been seeing Prince live for more than 20 years, caught one aftershow (Paradiso Amsterdam first night 1995), missed a whole lot of aftershows, lost interest, regained it with his fabulous shows at the North Sea Jazz Festival in 2011 and then all of a sudden, the shows in Norway were canceled because of the terrorist attacks by Anders Breivik and Prince came to Holland (for an extra show in Rotterdam) earlier than planned. So they had a few days to spare. And there was nothing planned at the Melkweg. (Summer holidays...) So they might as well rehearse there. So they might as well give a show. The first night, July 25, was a Sunday, the show was announced at a few hours' notice and all hell broke loose. The next day, the show was announced in the morning, so there was plenty of time to get to Amsterdam. The atmosphere was very relaxed. He opened with What's My Name. He played The Ballad of Dorothy Parker. Mutiny. Chocolate. And so much more. This night was a hardcore fan's dream come true. When it was over, people didn't ask each other:"What did you think of it?", but:"Did you enjoy it?"

Properly - The makings of Rain, August 3rd 1983 - Minneapolis, just a magical night and Wendys forst gig, the version of Electric Intercourse - wow! . Personally - Second Show Feb 24 2016 - A perfect show played in my hometown with my favourite songs - Prince playing shitloads off Sign o the Times and looking at me when he played Adore, I will never forget that. Plus anyone who was there knows that he was just on fire that night. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Not much to tell, to be honest: was in the front row at the last show, reached out my hand after he finished his final song of the night, he shook it, smiled at me, I was floored, then he was on a plane back home.

The Friday night aftershow at 3121 at the Rio, the weekend after the Super Bowl. We were seated in the front row at his right elbow. He played Wasted Kisses and I sang into his microphone. And after the intermission, Sheila was there, too. [Edited 2/16/18 9:08am] We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Hard to pick a favorite because i like them all for different reasons. The Troubador LA 2nd set from 2011 springs to mind. His guitar was on fire that night & i was right in front of his mic, that + the size of the venue made it feel like I was in his living room. The haunting version of Colonized Mind, getting to sing the chorus of Future Soul Song into the mic, the version he did of She's always in my hair w/ a wicked guitar coda & just the overall special vibe of the night made it memorable.
A Paisley Park gig from 9/9/2000? I believe it was Blackwells 1st live show w/him & P was ancy to play since the previous weeks gig got canceled due to a sick band member. I remember it being in the Love4oneanother room, I flew out w/ my wife after convincing her on a whim he might play. He kicked our ass & played this Egyptian tinged instrumental as an opener which I've never heard anywhere since. He ended the set singing Commons The Light w/ Kip.
The 3 shows in one night LA 2009. Just getting to go to all 3, didnt have a ticket to the Conga Room & feeling gutted after i found out it would be a Power Trio gig. Held my hand up for a ticket & this long haired angel w/ two others in tow pulled me along to the entrance with tickets already torn in half by mistake but the doorman let us in & the rest is history.
Glam Slam 94' LA w/ Stevie Wonder. Again flew out w/my girlfriend at the time. Due to the only time we could fly we were there super early. It was 95 degrees & the manager let us in to hang out in the club hours before the show. Seeing Prince on the floor playing the Gold Love Symbol guitar truly humbled to play w/ Stevie Wonder was something to see.
House of Blues 4/02 aftershow. Ahh the NPGMC days .. First time i ever heard him play Beautiful Strange & Calhoun Square live & I almost teared up, this happneed alot as many of you i know experienced as well.
Oracle Arena 3/16,sadly the last time i got to see him. He transformed an Arena show into an intimate experience for everyone that attended, the only artist capable of doing that imo.

My brother, mother, & I went to see Prince on The "Purple Rain" tour.. It was in March of 85 at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island.. This was my first concert ever & it was such a kick ass show. Prince at his height musically & performance wise. Th show started with "17 days" with Prince & the Revolution behind the curtain.. It was only half of the song but still was great to hear. At that time, i was 13 going on 14 yrs old. I was a fan for only 9 months at that time. So when he did HCUDCMA i was blown away. I wasn't up on every single B-side , at that point. It was such an exciting moment to be a Prince fan. BOB4theFUNK

I watch the vids on youtube and wishing I could've been there. Love is God, God is love, girls and boys love God above~

For me personally it was the Musicology show I went to in Seattle at KeyArena in 2004. The August 31 show. He did two nights and for some reason I didn’t go to Aug 30. Must’ve been cash flow issues at the time. . So glad I decided to buy tickets because I somehow managed to get 4th row on the floor on the DAY OF the concert. Closest to the stage I ever got to be at a Prince show. . And what a frigging show... the worst thing about seeing a truly great live show is that moment afterward when it hits you that you’ll never be able to see/hear/feel it again. I guess that’s also the best thing in a way. . The acoustic set was the best part, easily. “Little Red Corvette” on solo acoustic guitar and being close enough to clearly see the look on his face as he drank in the warmest, most heartfelt applause of the night. The humor in the long and rambling “The Rules.” The true surprise of a “Satisfaction” cover. . And the band was just so ridiculously outta sight... guest spot features like Chance Howard leading the group on “No Diggity” or my sax hero Maceo on “Wonderful World” not only DIDN’T feel out of place or bring down the momentum, they were strong additions in their own right. . Anyway, I realize most of y’all in the states caught a show on that tour probably, so I’m not adding jack to the conversation. Just chipping in my two cents about one of my all-time concertgoing highlights. I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

One Night Alone... at the Kodak Theater (now the Dolby Theatre) in Los Angeles, 4-20-2002. I always wanted to attend an event at the Kodak Theatre since the Oscars are held there every year and finally got to go there to watch Prince in concert. Love the setlist with Prince singing majority of the songs from The Rainbow Children album. Bought the Xenophobia T-shirt—- my favorite— still in great shape after all these years. My personal favourite is http://www.princevault.co...ruary_2014 To be 15 feet away in a small venue and witness the likes of Bambi, Endorpphinmachine, Colonized Mind, Something In The Water etc was special. Honestly one of the best nights of my life
