info needed about Parade era video footage

Hi,

I posted in the fan gatherings forum about a Prince exhibition taking place in Montreal until March 3rd.

I went (again) today and they have a TV where they played various videos. One of them peaked my curiosity because I never saw it before. It was a Parade era concert. Prince didn't have a shirt on and he took the drums at one point. I think the whole clip lasted 3 minutes or so. The video quality was great, it was close up.

Does anyone know which concert this is from or have you seen it?

Of the Parade shows in circulation, I know that there is a rehearsal in poor quality, the first 20 minute of a (Stockholm?) show in pro quality and the Cobo Arena birthday show...but the one I saw today was a different one...

Thanks

And how come you never read a book on decent behaviour in either of those languages?

Hey loudmouth, shut the fuck up, right?

Thanks guys.

I watched it today after work with the kids, such an awesome clip. I've been a fan for over 20 years, I can't believe I missed it all this time.

I was honestly hoping it was part of an entire show, but ow well, we'll wait for the Parade Deluxe edition to see if any concerts will be included.

Best part of that America clip is that sweet blue flowers Telecaster he's rocking. I think I heard it was Wendy's guitar and he ended up destroying it at some point. (can anyone confirm?)

I believe comedian Ed Byrne owns it now:

My most valuable possession is...the guitar I bought at auction. Prince played it on his 'Purple Rain' tour. It's a purple Telecaster copy with white flowers on it.

Unless there were several made?

hmm, just googled around to find this

First, I made two copies of his Hohner Tele as Hohner had discontinued the guitar at that time.

Second, I made two more Hohner copies that ejaculated! In the Purple Rain movie, there is a scene where he climbs to the top of a huge mountain of speakers, grabs a guitar and masturbates the neck until the guitar ejaculates onto the audience. The guitar was a prop and connected to a tank of Ivory Liquid off stage. Prince wanted a fully playable guitar that could also ejaculate. I ran copper tubing along the side of the truss rod and it terminated at the tip of the head stock. On the body side, it terminated in a compartment we routed in the back so they could install their solenoid valve that connected to the tank of Ivory Liquid. I called these two guitars the Ejacucasters!

The final two were two different T-style guitars, both purple with flowers

ya, as others have said, it was the america video, prince tossed singles out to the crowd, took the drums over and did a perfect ali imitation with the pointed drumstick. It was premiered right around the time of the mtv interview. this had to be fall of 85 or so. he'd done things to alienate a lot of the public and was awkwardly trying to do damage control by then but at that point, he was already losing the short attention span of the public. ATWIAD cut his pr audience to a fifth and with his bodyguards beating people up, he lost the general public not to mention the misunderstood not taking part in we are the world, (which was actually good of him not to take part in, they would have made him look stupid any way they could have).

funny thing is, ali was a little homophobic (he called the beatles 'faggots' when he first met them, right before both exploded on the scene) and to read the story told by Ali's daughter that Prince met Ali in the mid 80's, he looked up at him and said "muhammad ali, i love you so much". Ali must have looked at this dandy and had some reservations, however, they got together later on for some kind of charity event. also, Prince claimed to show The Time videotapes of Ali to give them the proper attitude.

If it was the video for "America" the reason he did not have on a shirt was someone in the audience pulled it off of him. Prince plays along but the security runs over to the prson.
