Sheila is under no obligation to discuss her relationship with Prince to anyone, if she doesn't want to. They had a bond and she may want to keep all that went with it to herself.

It's not what I meant and no one is under no obligation to discuss anything.

Sheila has been openly fed-up discussing Prince in interviews because she wants to be interviewed about herself, which is OK in the sense that it must be irritating to always be interviewed about someone else when you have a career of your own, but sometimes she's been almost hostile about it, and she's apparently gone as far as to ban the interviewer from her RedBull Academy workshop to even mention the name Prince, which makes the interview quite awkward when it reaches the 80's (a lot of fascinating stuff is discussed before that, since Sheila had a career long before she met Prince).

She also seems to insist on giving herself credits regarding songs apparently solely composed and arranged by Prince, or downplaying the part he played in her first 2 solo albums (Duane even adresses those discrepancies in his book), which I don't understand since it's only 2 records and there's no shame in admitting he was responsible for most of them: it's not like those are her only 2 records, she had released 2 with her dad before that, and many more ever since. And since those records' recording process has been thoroughly documented by third parties, those discrepancies give the wrong impression about her.

Now don't get me wrong, I have nothing but respect for Sheila, she's an incredibly talented person, a musician I've been a fan of for 25+ years (hell, my favorite Sheila E. album may even be Sex Cymbal, with which Prince had nothing to do!) she's probably a very nice person and whatever she does, she must have her reasons for doing it. I just wish she'd be more open to discuss the creative aspects of her professional relationship with Prince when it's appropriate (i.e. of course not when interviewed about her last record).
