When I first heard Power Fantastic, I was overcome with emotion. I'm not a crier, but I started sobbing. Then it happened again. THAT song is alive.

.

I don't remember what song on AOA actually broke the damn, but I did when I heard that album.

A different reason than Power Fantastic

Power Fantastic is another great one. Oh, man. Miss him so much.

Just to be cheeky - Make Me Feel the new Janelle Monae single. My eyes filled with tears, listening to that. It evokes Prince beautifully - to my ears.

Funny...I had the same reaction..

yep Prince is all over that track

I think I might reach number one..

I played it 5 times on repeat the first time..

It's just brilliant. And so purple.

I dunno. I don’t know her music, but this wasn’t my scene.

Way Back Home gets me a little teary eyed. Listening to the lyrics and then thinking about what has happened to him. sad

Yeah, I've thought about that one many times since I heard it played it after a concert before the album came out...and he peeped around the side of the stage to see how people were responding to it... That brings tears... Last time I ever saw him.

Aww man, I would've been sobbing! Also Father's Song, Anna Stesia, The Ladder, Venus de Milo, 4 The Tears in Your Eyes, Sometimes it Snows in April, Whitecaps....get me a little misty eyed too. Wow, Prince had a way with tugging at the heartstrings, that's for sure!!

Only other time I cried was the day after he died and I got served with divorce papers. Oddly, it was Calhoun Square. I met my (ex) wife at a Prince concert. Seemed like a culmination of total shit that day. Too much loss and a crumbling of some sort of personal foundation.

Anna Stesia has the same effect on me it did before P passed...I get teary eyed and then as the song builds and progresses I get this feeling of defiant joy...and then I dance my ass off!

The performance of Love Thy Will was from one of the shows in Auckland,New Zealand and I believe 9 Million Bicycles was from one of the shows in Australia but I'm not certain. He sounds so emotional during this performance.

Ouch, what a double whammy.

The song Sweet Baby from Love Symbol. That song has meant a great deal to me lately and one night on the way home? It played and it hit me out of no where.

Just at concerts:

1997 Jam Of The Year Tour: The Cross. I'm not the least bit religious, but the performance was just so powerful, there I was with a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes, for no reason.

2002 Xenophobia Celebration, the last night I think: He played Empty Room. At the time, it was an outtake. And when he started playing it, the whole place let out a loud gasp, HE'S PLAYING EMPTY ROOM!!! By the end of the song, the power of it being an outtake that only the faithful knew, plus being in his house with the faithful... it was just too much.

2/23/2018 The Revolution: Wendy and Lisa alone on the stage playing "Sometimes it snows in April." Yes everyone knew it was coming, yes, it's an overly emotional song, but no matter what, there was a reason we all were there. The man who ain't with us no more.

Good topic. A few months ago a street busker with an electric guitar was playing some good music. My friend (who is not a Prince fan) and I went up to him to ask if he could play any Prince tunes. He said he only knows Purple Rain. I groaned because I'm not particularly fond of Purple Rain. He started playing note for note not singing and he played it beautifully. My friend just started impromptu singing the woo woo woos. That's when I realised the power of that song and burst into tears. Then we all started singing it right there on the street. I didn't care. So after all these years of resistance it has captured me.

This was incredible to see and hear. Especially when he went into “Why’d you leave me all alone?” And it went into a Prince scream. At least that’s how I remember it.

Tamborine is an amazing song, Chris has great taste thumbs up! for me the song/s that makes me emotional is his LRC/Dirty Mind tribute to Vanity during the Piano & Microphone tour in Melbourne in 2016, because it was so deep and heartfelt. I miss both of them sad

Listened to the song on repeat this past Valentine’s Day and choked up as I began to miss Prince again. I usually choose a Prince song(s) to celebrate holidays.

Lots of them. But I'm in the perhaps unique (on the org, anyway) position of having not heard a lot of the music before. With that in mind...

- Power Fantastic killed me. I'd never even heard of it before. I listened to that song on endless loop for weeks.
- So Dark. I loved Dark and knew there was another version, but never heard it before. The differences between the two are subtle, but somehow everything. I'm so glad he released both.
- All of One Night Alone Studio. I don't agree with every song (Young & Beautiful, really?), but I can *see* him when I listen to that album. It's everything he intended it to be.
- Kamasutra. Yeah, I went there. It's not good classical, in fact Kamasutra itself mostly demonstrates how truly talented orchestral musicians can turn a maddeningly repetitive 8-note riff into music. smile But then, there's Eternal Embrace. Sometimes the beauty that came out of him was breathtaking.
And the MUSIC continues...forever...

i LOVE Kamasutra...that haunting 8-note melody had me hooked from day1...then the explosion of synths as the song is ending, gives me goosebumps, as when you hear them, its like Prince is coming from behing the curtain and exposing himself as The Great Wizard

I love it too. The whole album, in fact. I was over the moon when I finally got it. I love when Prince goes so far outside the envelope.

You can see clear evolution in many of his styles as he grew professionally. Pop, rock, funk, all matured as he did. I often wonder how his classical(ish) music would've progressed if he did a bunch of albums.
And the MUSIC continues...forever...
