Did you hear it from 2:40, the piano solo? Yes 2.40 is the Could It Be Magic bit. You can sing ‘spirits move me every time I’m near you’ to it. My mother was a big Barry fan in case you’re wondering. Honestly [Edited 2/19/18 11:10am] Wait, you are saying that from 2:40 onward in “Sailing” by Christopher Cross is lifted from the Manilow song “Could it Be Magic”??? I’m talking about listening from 2:40 onward in “Sailing”, you don’t have to sing lyrics... its an instrumental break and I’m comparing it to the instrumental break in “Planet Earth” My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

I'm not saying that. I've never heard of Sailing by Chris Cross. Keep me out of any plagiarism cases

The beginning is amazing, then it all becomes painful... the edited version is a bit better. Co-sign. . The beginning and very end of this song are amazing. Some of Prince’s best work. The mess of bad hip hop chants in the middle is a travesty, topped off by painful “damn girl, let me see the booty boom” nonsense. This might be Prince’s worst “hip hop” moment (if you can even call it hip hop). "Love & honesty, peace & harmony"

I think if I could remove the vocals of the middle section I would agree with you on the bass, piano, drums... but that rap or chanting or whatever it is...

I must be crazy because I, personally, LOVE the bridge section..

LOL
So that is what I've been feeling from this song. I enjoy it imensly
That 'cheesy musical theater midsection' lol that is what I've always felt about it, and would just blank out until it was over. The 'synth' sounded cheap. But the rest of the song was awesome and give me chills.

Starting to realise I like a lot of yacht rock, Christopher Cross, Styx, Player, Little River Band, Paul Davis, Air Supply, Hall and Oates, Randy Vandewarmer, Ace, Juice Newton (Possibly more country), I just sound tacky I know. . Would you guys count George Benson as Yacht rock, I know he is black and jazz pop, but a lot of white People I know seem to like his music, and it is smooved out like all the rest of Yacht rock, if funkier and for that matter we could add How bout us by Champaign and Just the two of us by Grover Washington. So basically is there room for Black guys on the yacht? Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name
