My brother was addicted and he had that issue too. But he also had major health issues.

i understand why so many people overdose on these Opioids. It just making the matters worse(pain). There should be a petition on banning this type drug.

I do not want it banned. I want it better managed. It is dangerous to give for any kind of chronic pain for any non-terminal illness.

I have chronic pain (thankfully for a good long while it has not been a big issue) and I have had injuries and offered opioids and I flat out refused.

But the problems are multifaceted.

probably should be banned except under certain conditions. the stuff is deadly, seductive. that was what sounded the scariest to me when i did a little research, the part where they said it permanently stops the human bodies built in ability to deal with pain.

Yes, that is why they are so bad. A lot of doctor's should not even be prescribing them; they need to be more careful in understanding what pain management is all about.

.

Dr. Drew states that opioids should only be given for the "short-term", because of the fact they are highly-addictive. You keep wanting more and more -- and then, you are in trouble.

.

Opioids suppress the area in your brain that detects pain. This can be a bad thing, because by the time your pain gets to such a high level; things go from bad to worse really quick.

I am afraid nothing will really change as long as big pharma is making billions on it and can blame doctors and users

So you're really just here to spread political posts off-topic via your sig?

I am for banning the AR-15. It's a MILITARY tool, not a civilian hunting weapon (well, it IS used to hunt civilians). Don't act such a softie. You want a killing machine legalized.

Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

It was illegal once to give opioids outside of hospital settings until opioid makers lobbied Congress to remove the restriction, thus the beginning of the epidemic.

Take that crap to P & R, please.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I suffer from a pinched nerve in my lower back, it causes pain thru my whole spinal cord and legs, it even makes my arms and hands numb. There’s days I can barely walk because of the pain. I have been on pain pills for 10yrs. I have never overdosed or abused my medications ever. Because of the so called opioid epidemic my doctor cut my medication by 1/3.
It’s really hard trying to stretch my prescription to last 30 days now. The biggest mistake this so called crisis is causing is that legitimately sick people are being treated like dopeheads and We’re being included with illegal heroin/Fentanyl users. I have never used either. My favorite artist died of illegal opioids, I know there’s a problem but I’m stuck here in the middle.
