Would Prince be allowed release a greatest hits live cd? Hey copywrite experts ,would Prince not be able to put together his own greatest hits single cd using live versions from all the DAT he has accumulated over the years. Since the last hits set from Warners sold well could Prince not get a little pay back from his own masters. Wouldn't it be great if he put out the tracks in the years that they were performed from the early tours onwards. If there's any copywrite experts here please expplain if he could legally do this.
While we're on it what tracks would you have and which years live performance would you have?, mine would include SOTT [ONA TOUR], The cross [Lovesexy tour], I Wanna be your lover [dirty mind tour], controversy [Nude tour] etc.

He planned on releasing a greatest ballads album called
"When 2 R In Love: The Ballads Of Prince" a while ago, I think it was around the time Rave was released. He referred to the project in the interview that has been floating around online [someone posted a link here on the org a while ago]. But he also said that there were some problems with WB regarding the album. I don't know if it was simply copyright or something to do with the $ that it would garner for WB or something. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Yes he could.
He can basically put out what he likes himself now. The only thing he can't do is use the same actual recordings of songs that WB have already released.
