H'm. I kinda dig it. You have to get past the crass commercialization (beat that down hard), but then it's celebration for a mass audience. After nearly two years, I'm touched to see it. Any and all--it works for me.

At first I thought it was ok, very cheesy but if it gets people singing the song and then going and picking up the Prince original then that’s cool.

But then it got to the part in the mortuary with the tag on the toe and them singing “Maybe it’s cos we’re all gonna die”. I stopped watching it right there. I know it sounds silly but it just seemed a bit disrespectful singing that Prince song to a body on the slab given what happened.
