Yaritza Blackwell, John's widow, posted this photo on Instagram, noting, "Prince wearing John's hat." I have seen this photo many times, but I never knew it was Blackwell's hat. This was at Le Grand Journal in Paris, June 27, 2011, when Prince famously announced that he was wearing Andy Allo's boots. In fact, I think most of his outfit was borrowed from Andy, including her leggings and tunic. His luggage had been delayed during the cross-Atlantic trip from Montreal.

P did seem to be extremely fond of Blackwell. Listening to his interviews after Prince's passing let me know that the feeling was mutual. He looked to Prince as a friend and even as a father figure or beloved and highly revered uncle.

I got that as well. I really enjoyed listening to his stories about his time with Prince.
