Just saw the James Brown, MJ and Prince performance!! After years of waiting i finally got to see it on a compilation bootleg dvd which includes his first tv appearance . If you haven't seen this joint performance then try your best to but make sure you have a cushion handy to hide and cringe behind, MJ tears shit up with some serious JB moves then asks JB to get P on stage. P arrives piggy back on chick and it goes down hill from there. He does some weird shit JB moves, picks up a guitar and just when you think he can save his ass and deliver the goods he plays the worst funk you could imagine. The funniest thing is when he does get down to some splits and spins JB is talking to his band and misses the whole thing!!. Yes that night in '83 Prince truly had his ass kicked. It would be great to see this happen now , i think our man may steal the show.
This dvd is worth getting also for that first tv appearance to see Princes look of horror and pathetic reaction to being interviewed, his gold trousers and boots and above all his wanna be Mick Jagger moves. Age has truly improved him!!.

What interview is this? And yes, the JB shit is horrible. The ONLY time I've seen him be completely uncool onstage I've convinced myself he was high that night

I really like P in that video...he's high, yes...but he wipes the floor with MJ...comes on, snatches a guitar...sings one note, then splits (whilst pulling down a lamp-post in2 the unfortunate crowd!!!) nothing cooler than a guy with a sense of presence...just my opinion...
and MJ steal the show now??!! well, did u see MJ's last live performance...did u see one nite alone live though?...could MJ last one performance, let alone an entire tour...? don't get me wrong, MJ was my first love and I always have a special place 4 him, but he can't cut it like P... Ry.

Ry. This may be THE MOST unrealistic post I've ever read Prince was NOT cool that night. He acted an ass just getting on the stage. He undressed. He stayed too long. He seemed disoriented. HE KNOCKED DOWN A FUCKING PROP ON HIS WAY OFF!! Dude, get a grip! P sucked that night. MJ killed a few notes, did a little dance & got the fuck out - nice & brief. AND he had the class to request P be brought up. MJ did his thing (and I'm no MJ fanatic, I assure you)... We're not talking about showmanship/performance NOW, we're talking THAT NIGHT. And that night, Prince was NOT on...

Yeah, I agree...I think I just enjoyed the performance...the bit where he came on riding piggy-back did it for me...and pulling down a prop was comedy too... no you're right though, cool, no...good viewing, for me yes...think just for comedy value... at the end of Javeds post there's something about MJ & Prince performing now and MJ stealing the show...oh ang on, was he referring to P, literally stealing the show?!!? that's why I got a bit pissed...anywayz...point taken!

PRINCE KICKED ASS!!
no matter what he did...it was abOut his whole persona badass...his aura...weird, sexy, misterious, mystical, dangerous...prince is more of a punk rocker than MJ or JB, he didnt want 2 do a JB imitation everyone xpected. Prince is in another galaxy and if he wanted he could have done the XPECTED JAMES BROWN THING, and he probably does it better than MJ , who cant even do the basic splits... IT WAS ATTITUDE

I heard that he was off at first, but then warmed up later. But I trust the judgments of the "grass roots" here. If he sucked, he sucked. That's all right.
Every other performance I've seen, live, video, movie or otherwise, tells me that no other performer on the planet could keep up. If anything, when he's playing with anyone else, Prince "plays down" to that artist. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

(off-topic mode) green day shouldn't even be considered as a punk band, so i don't see why u mentioned those ketchupheads. and i love old-skool punk (hell, i could care less 4 whatever's out there now), so i don't see where that came from. calm down. HUH?

IT WAS ATTITUDE Prince made a fool of himself that night and I have seen films of Michael do the splits way back in 1969 and in the early early 70s. I think Mike just moved on from it. It's too bad he can't move on from the 80s. I'm way more into Prince, but I got the feeling that James wished he had never let Prince on stage. He didn't do anything except make a fool of himself. The one thing I can't find on Kazaa.com is his real first TV appearance On the midnight Special with Wolfman Jack. I have the 1980 American Bandstand appearence, the 1981 Saturday night live appearence and that foolishness with James brown. I even got the 1982 solid Gold performance of 1999 and the 1983 solid gold performance of little red corvettte, but no midnight special.
