Prince invented many dance moves

Prince, from his heydays on has always a first class innovator on all sorts of levels.

I loved it when he sang/sings about, and announces new dance moves.

Some n the style of : "...People People, got a brand new dance, new dance..."

Remember any of 'm? and in which song or live performance ?

-

Do the 'Housequake' - (same song)

-

"...It will make them do 'the walk'" - 'The Walk' (by The Time), and also 'Play In The Sunshine'

-

Do the 'Bird' - (same song by The Time)

-

Shakin' that ass - 'Sexy MF'

-

"...maybe she'd like 2 dance 'Ring around the rosie'" - 'It's Gonna B A Beautiful Night'

-

"...Tonight we're gonna ball, Tonight we're gonna get the bomb, y'all I'm talkin' 'bout 'the Detroit crawl'" - 'It's Gonna B A Beautiful Night'

-

"...Who asked your dumb ass how to catch a groove? Nobody. Cuz we doing 'the do'..." - 'Release It', and also : "...Dance, shake it like a 'peckerwood'...."

-

Do 'The Jerk' - 'Jerk OUt' (by The Time)

-

Do 'the shake' : "...Everybody shake. U got to shake something. My lord. Shake! U got 2 shake something..." - (song by The Time)

-

Do 'The Grind' : "...People get ready, nouveau dance here, All the girls and all the boys, Get close, have no fear, (have no fear), We're gonna do le grind y'all..."

-

etc...

timeout Nah, I don't think he gets credit for "shakin' that ass", "the jerk" nor "the shake". Those were dances long before Prince used them.

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

What about the dance craze that inspired the original LET'S WORK called "LET'S ROCK"...

What was that dance like?

In the unreleased song (cross) The Line, he sings about many moves :

-

People, people, I got a brand new dance,
Ain't talkin' 'bout Housequake! No!
Ain't talkin' 'bout Shake 'N' Bake! No!
Ain't talkin' 'bout Rice-O-Roni! No!
I'm talkin' 'bout Macaroni? No!

...

Boni? (What?)
On the 2 (Yeah!)
What we gonna do? (Kangaroo!)
Say it! (Kangaroo!)
Come on
Boni? (What?)
On the 2 (Yeah!)
What U wanna do? (Kangaroo!)
Do the do (Do the do!)

-
