^ You know that these are for sale in the auction that was moved to "The Marketplace", right?

It would be nice to hear this version with "Adore" being 2nd to last without the crowd noise AKA PDEXTER

Hmm, so does this throw some doubt on authenticity of the Crystal Ball tape from a few years back? That had the last two tracks in the same order as on SOTT.

Good observation! "I like to watch."

From Eric's note, it is music Prince passed to him to rehearse/get to know just in case he wanted to do them live. I don't think it is a set list for an actual album.

It's the exact same tracklist as the "Crystal Ball " album and the boot execpt on the boot "Adore" and "IGBABN" are reversed. "Shockadelica" clocks in at 6:04 and "Good Love" clocks in at 5:06 on the released versions. It's longer according to those tape times. AKA PDEXTER

What a ridiculously amazing album. The music he recorded back then... Hey loudmouth, shut the fuck up, right?

I very much doubt Prince would even need to give Eric or other band members tapes to 'learn'. For instance, it's interesting to see It's Gonna Be a Beautiful Night on there, as Eric and the band would of rehearsed the shit out of this song/jam for months - so i doubt they would need to hear it again!!!! same with most of the other songs - also why have them split across all those tapes when it would of fit on one tape cassettte. In my opinion this is just Prince giving out the album that he was so proud of to band members. amazing all the same!

reference materials for rehearsals...why would that not be believable? https://www.rrauction.com...ction.html U can listen 2 Eric talk about it here . Most of the band did not even perform on those songs. or were a part of those recording periods. . Just because Eric added horn parts doesn't mean he's going to know the songs. . Prince would tell the band members what songs to listen over to get ready for rehearsals even if they did not rehearse them. . I mean how many of those songs even have horn parts? . No horns: Shockadelica Good Love Play In the Sunshine Forever In My Life Sign of the Times The Cross The Ballad of Dorothy Parker It Starfish & Coffee Crystal Ball If I Was Your Girlfriend Joy In Repetition Strange Relationship -None of these songs have horns on it . Crystal Ball is such a complex song, why not listen to it to get it into your system. . It's Gonna Be a Beautiful Night. Did you hear it on the Parade tour? It was more of an 'on the spot' type of performance. Then Prince did some other stuff to it in the studio. So rehearsing the hell out of it means nothing if they haven't hear the final cut with all it's parts. . He had vinyl albums pressed for the Black Album and Camille. He gave those away. I suspect if he wanted to just give the Crystla Ball press away, it wouldn't have been in a tape cassette form.

For me this is very much one of, if not the, holy grail. It's so tantalizing to imagine this record sequenced, mixed, and mastered, even on an old cassette. Not sure if that's what this is at all, but I wish there were a hundred thousand copies of these tapes lying around! [Edited 1/23/18 20:44pm]

Thanks for posting the tapes. It's just nice/intersting to see them--having another physcial index, if you will--of the process of how he got from Parade to SOTT with all the twists and turns between the two albums. I know we have all discussed this to no end, but, still, seeing the tapes just seems like a nice touch or addendum to the discussion, along with all other stuff we've heard and seen.

Prices have gone way up at this auction.

Fair enough for actual Prince worn items, but there is a lot of stuff beng passed off as special in that auction. Estimates are crazy on some seemingly ordinary items.
