There is a version of the song Goldnigga (newly?) circulating that is listed as "Uncut 8 Minute Original Demo". My first question was whether it's authentically "uncut" or if it's a fanmade splice of Part 1, 2 & 3 from the album. Listening closely, I don't hear any splices. IF it's fanmade, they did an excellent job.

Has anyone else heard this and have an opinion? Do any of our "experts" have an opinion?

I was expecting some opinion. As far as I can tell, the circulating track is legit uncut, and NOT a fan splice. If I'm wrong, whoever did it, did a great job. I can't hear any evidence of a fan edit.

I got it from the Camden store too. Alas, it's not the withdrawn version.

I don't get why this album gets so much flak. It's really solid and has some superb playing from what was Prince's best band.

I can't hear any seams, so I'm gonna go with it being real until someone shows otherwise. And I might have to go back and listen to the album again soon--I forgot how much I liked this sound (Tony or no Tony).

Yep, it was even on Youtube titled "Tony M & NPG - Goldnigga"

I listened to it for several weeks. It was an flawless edit. Now, it's on mixcloud but the edit is way worse. Still an enjoyable listen.

In the worse edit it fades in and out in the exact same way "If The Kid Can't Make You Come" does on the album version from -84. Between the first verse to "You gotta have me home before dawn" and from that verse to "*Whistle* Tony! I haven't seen you for ten years man!"

On the Youtube version I never heard any cuts between the dialogue.

Well, that's the places where I would expect to hear them--I just didn't when I listened initially. I'll listen again later to see if I just missed them.

I cannot find any evidence that it's fake.

I don't think I can hear any element in it that's not in the released version(s), which is never a good sign, but no definitive proof that it's fake.

It's shorter than parts 1-2-3 altogether and longer than parts 1-2, with a slightly different structure. But that could just mean a good fanmade edit with some parts being looped to make it longer while cutting some other parts off it. If properly done, you wouldn't hear anything.

So IDK. If it's fanmade it's a good job indeed, which doesn't make it any less evil.

I'm certain there are people here, at least among elite traders, who can tell if it's genuine or not so if you know, please tell.

Or maybe, if it's fanmade, the smart alec responsible for it could be kind enough to come and tell us?

I can't say who confirmed it, but, it's a fake. It's a very, very good fake. Whoever made this has some mad skills. It's so good that even knowing it's a fake, it sounds authentic to my ears.

The person that made this did such a good job, they should probably consider a career in audio engineering instead of focusing their energies on trying to fool Prince fans. We don't need anymore "fake" tracks muddying the waters and we don't want databank to "snap"...

Trust me its a fake. I heard the original at a house party in Detroit. That guy was in the emp;oy and Prince would kick him music for straight up opinions. Ditto the Alt. of 2gether that surfaced in 2001. The reason some stuff is in bad quality was that was they Prince gave stuff to people. He wasn't gonna just give a perfect copy. After all. That was a business. I would akso say, whoever did that did an excellent job and perhaps pursue a professional career in that field.
