The Identity Of Stella And Charles Revealed? In the 1987 movie Maid To Order starring Ally Sheedy and Tom Skerritt Ally's character wears a Purple Rain t-shirt in one scene. Her father's name is Charles (Tom Skerrittt) and she's visited by her fairy godmother whose name is Stella (Beverly D'Angelo).
The outtake Stella And Charles was recorded in 1985... just sayin'... |

What are you saying? Because all I see is a coincidence.
Ally Sheedy has long been a Prince fan. She was looking at the 1999 album in The Breakfast Club. As far as the names in Maid to Order - it's a cute coinky dink, but it ends there.
Edit: damn tab button fucks me and I posted before I was done. -- It's a clever find on your part, no doubt. But it's random. I just watched Maid To Order a couple of months ago. Critics sorta panned it as predictable, but it was still a fun watch. That rich couple was clueless. haha [Edited 1/15/18 16:04pm] Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

[Edited 1/15/18 16:04pm]Iit's a complete coincidence, but I was watching it recently and there's a line of dialogue spoken by Ally where she mentions Stella And Charles, and I thought where have I heard that before? It's an interesting title, reminds me of the Saul bit at the end of the Kiss remix, so I imagine the song being about an older couple nagging one another. Anyway, saw the shirt, heard the unreleased song title, checked the years and... nada...

The movie's from 1987, the song's from 1985 - so what are you saying, the writer somehow heard the Prince song and named the characters after the song, or that Prince had a time machine and loved the movie so much he wrote a song about its characters?
.
fun fact: I have this movie on DVD. |

I see that as usual Orgers are taking a simple observation to the umpth degree, but nothing ethereal here, it was merely an observo, there was a bit of dialogue where one character saod Stell And Charles, and then I thought of the outtake, a couple scenes later Ally shows up in the Prince tee, whatever... |
