Someone on Twitter raised the question of why - out of all the Iron Mountain facilities - was Los Angeles chosen rather than a location closer to the Paisley Park studios, like the one in St Paul maybe? Life Matters |

IMO people have to understand that the two locations do not afford the same services to the estate. Also, the entertainment industry is in California, for the most part. Do we know who owns what, in terms of the work product sent to California? This is big business, and the estate needs to generate as much cash as it can. This move was needed in order to maintain the integrity of the work product and to insure future earnings. |

From my understanding from Comerica's response is that the St. Paul facility is only set up for documents and not recording preservation. The LA location is designed for media preservation. |

Iron Mountain's Pennsylvania location offers the same services, but the storage vaults are not in the same proximity as they are in California. I still think moving Prince's artifacts to California, with its perennial wildfires and the constant threat of catastrophic earthquakes, was a bad idea...but apparently, the Estate has no similar concerns. Let us hope that none of these concerns ever become an issue. |

Dang, this facility is all over the world. Anyway, isn't the on in PA a government facility? |

According to recent court filings, an Iron Mountain executive indicated that the PA facility offers similar services to the LA Entertainment Division except for the proximity of the storage vault. |

Gotcha.
I see Ozzy did a tour of the underground PA facility. Bill Gates has stuff there. Can't find anything about the LA facility, beyond ads for it, and job applications.

Thanks!
This is what I was curious about:
The best way to preserve a master recording? Make sure it’s well cared for from the start. That’s where Iron Mountain comes into play. Entertainment Services borrows from a 60-year heritage of respected best practices in records management, including unrivaled levels of secure storage (including underground, climate-controlled and guarded facilities) and ironclad chain of custody processes to make its digital magic happen.
To me this is interesting:
Now it’s no longer necessary for an attendant to go to the vault, pull a cartridge or tape off the shelf (robotics handle this now) and ship it out to another facility for conversion. The totally onsite process gives the owners of valuable recordings peace of mind, as they know they’re protected against mishaps in transit. “The tapes really never see the light of day,” notes Anthony. |

Frankly, if the work product was destroyed in a fire or an earthquake, what would be the difference? We haven't heard or seen what was there, so if it is lost, no harm, no foul. JMO but if we hear or see anything new over the next years, it will be a bonus. A gift. |

Like I'd said, no expectations no disappointments. Anything will be a gift.
I don't worry about it either because if it was THAT good, Prince would have given it to us already.

Actually the above post is wrong thinking and assuming.
Several band members and collaborators said that Prince would often shelve to the vault what they perceived to be the best stuff.
And unless Minnesota steps in to preserve Pasiely Park as a landmark, That space requires money to run...so extra material is important to the future of Paisley upkeep.
I do agree with no expectations no disappointment...but if it's trashed it is a Loss to estate assets. |

Well, there you have it. That's the difference between what I said and what you say.

To each their own.
The reason it's not released a lot of it Prince said is that the world wasn't ready for it... not that it's throw away not good enough. |

The material in the vault may also contain several projects of Rosie Gains who is now having issues with in and out of homelessness. Her work which she said was 5 projects of material could improve her life. So the vault isn't about just Prince. |

Of course the vault is all about Prince. It was HIS vault.
Was it suggested that it would be a good idea to contact PRN Alumni Foundation in regard to assistance for Rosie? That is what they are there for, to help those who worked with Prince. They have a FB page as well as a website here: https://www.facebook.com/PRNalumniFDN/
I have personally spent money on items from the foundation and have seen others posting here and on Facebook who have done the same. People on FB have been raving about the candles sold there. It seems like contacting them would be the best resource for assistance for her at this time.
Sorry for veering away from the thread topic everyone

The candles are back in stock, but they are $49.99, I don't know why I thought they were 19.99 the other day. I can't do 50 bucks for candles. |

Here in California. Prince's vault is well safe under the hands of Warner Bros. Prince resigned with them back in 2014. Some of the music was done back in the late '70's and throughout the years. It still belongs none other Warner Bros. |
